You're Never Too Old,

This review is from: Golf Signature Holes Edition of Monopoly (Toy)
Once friends and colleagues realize that you are a golfer, golf accented gifts never stop. This year, I received a coffee mug (Oh no, not again!) shaped like a golf ball, tees so huge they could double as railroad spikes, a tie rack with small golf clubs for hooks, and a golf calendar. (I since bought my own. See two reviews ago). However, the nicest surprise came from friends when they visited our home and ooohed and awwed over our Christmas tree and decor.
The Debster started playing computer Monopoly on Pogo and thought it would be nice if we played the game together. I had played it with my older sister when I was young. We would start on Friday evenings and put it under her bed, if the game wasn't finished, to be continued Saturday morning). I agreed, and Debbie picked up her old game that she had stored away. That night however, coincidence of coincidences occurred as Webster and Judy presented us with this edition of Monopoly. This edition maintains color scheme integrity which means the colors are in the same position as the original game of monopoly. The houses are still green only now they are called caddy shacks. The hotels are an ivory color but are now called country clubs. The metal figures vary from golf shoes, to golf cart, to golfer putting, to golf bag, to golfer carrying one. The money is the same color and the same amount for each player. The utilities are now the front nine and the back nine respectively. The railroads are now "in the rough," "sand," "out of bounds," and "water," of which are all are quite familiar to me in the real game. I quite expected Mediterranean Avenue to be any hole at Forest Park in Queens, but that was not to be. Community Chest and Chance are called Drive for Show and Putt for Dough respectively. I had the honor of placing the first hotels of our game on the "purples," Kingshill #5 and Harbor Town #18, only Debbie's rolls always seemed to avoid them. (It's all in the wrist). The game was over when I landed on Pacific Avenue which is called Doral Golf Resort and Spa #18, which was immediately followed by a roll of eight that put me on Boardwalk, now Pebble Beach #7 where she had three caddyshacks. I lost game one. Monopoly with two players is much too fast as you will find that doubles will bring you around to property with caddyshacks and country clubs without a breather. Once in awhile a quiet game of Monopoly will bring a tad more interaction in a relationship, which is always healthy unless you are prone to cheating or accusing the other of the same. Monopoly is for ages 8 to adult. You may get too old for the real one, but not for Monopoly.

I bought this as a Christmas gift last year for my (former) boss and his family. He, his wife, and their two sons, are all avid golfers, so it seemed like a great gift. It's something the entire family could enjoy together. They all seemed to really like it.

Bought this for someone as a gift. Never heard anything from them so I don't know if they liked it or not.
