4.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful board ruined by plastic pieces
The case and playing board is very detailed and pretty. The playing pieces for the hotels/houses are made of cheap plastic which is a garish oversight. It couldn't have cost that much more money to have made all the non-wood pieces wood. Even the nostalgic set costing less than half of Graves' set has wood pieces.

Very nice set, appealing to the eye. Pieces are unique, it has good weight to it. the Veneer on the wood is peeling after only 2 uses on mine, though. For a $50 board game, that is unacceptable.

4.0 out of 5 stars I'd recommend it, December 30, 2003

My only complaint is that the storage drawer was way too tight and extremly difficult to open. (maybe it was just mine though.)We actually had to use pliers to get it open the first time which really scratched up the knob. But with a little candle wax and minimal sanding it slides in and out just fine now. Otherwise, I love this set! It's compact, looks great, and I don't have to worry about the box falling aparat and the peices disappearing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great game, great board, November 10, 2003

Great board. The pieces and board are smaller, but I like that since it makes more room on the table. Since it's all wood and smaller, it makes for more playing areas such as a bed or even in a car. Highly recommended for anyone who loves the game.

5.0 out of 5 stars small wooden metal masterpiece., July 29, 2003
This review is from: Michael Graves Design™ Monopoly (Toy)
I love this board. However, here's a few helpful things to note: (1) the board, pieces, cards, everything are all smaller then a regular monopoly board. (2) The pieces are very unique-- formed after home stuff he's designed and is sold at target (blender, telephone, etc.) (3) it's one of the few wooden monopoly boards out there, and it's only $50.

Ecellent work.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great take on a classic game, March 10, 2003

When I saw Michael Graves designed a Monopoly set, I jumped at the chance to own it. The set is very durable, and so stylish. The pieces are miniatures of Michael Graves designed objects instead of the traditional Monopoly pieces, to lend a modern touch to this old game. The whole set is very well made, and very cool!

4.0 out of 5 stars Keeper, January 22, 2004

We put this on our wedding registry and think it'll make a great family game to keep for years... as long as we can keep track of the pieces! The board & cards are much smaller than the standard $10 board, which is good & bad (less room for houses on the board but great that the deed cards are 1/2 size & easier to handle!). The wooden casing gives it an impressive presentation, folding down into something that resembles a large jewelry box for easy & attractive storage. We do miss the nostalgia of the original player pieces... the race car and his friends are replaced by small appliances, but if we want them that bad we can take them out of our regular set. Overall, very satisfied with the set even though the houses & hotels are plastic (they are modeled to look like they're wood... but being plastic just means they'll hold up better over the years). We're excited to have this nice set to add to our board game collection!
