Classic Monopoly on your TV,
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Monopoly (Video Game)
You know the one:
You roll, you buy, you trade, you build houses, you pay, you auction, and sabotage the other players with your built houses and hotels. You can also land on bonus cards (Chance -- Community Chest) to see what special event will occur. Will you win money, lose money, or just have to go to jail or Go? Monopoly can take a long time to complete, but you will have a fun time as you try to fight off troubles with your cash. This NES replica of the board game we all know actually makes everybody's turns much faster thanks to the simple press-A-button-to-roll-or-buy gameplay. It could be slightly confusing to trade or auction at first, and you will have to pay even more attention to what properties the other players (or CPUs) own, but the extra cartoon-y animations and music make up for it.

The developers did a great job with putting Monopoly on screen for NES. I couldn't really complain about anything, and it beats the board game by a mile by eliminating the work in person. The graphics are excellent; the makers stayed true to the actual game unlike Clue for SNES, and the trading is pretty fun with computer players. There are ways around it to get what I want. For example, if you have an orange card and you want to collect all three, you just buy off cards of different colors to get two, and this computer player has both of them: the orange card and the card you just collected in 2. Pretty much, after that, the game can be dominated, depending on how you play it out. Luck will be a factor since I may be nearing bankrupt after the trade but have high hopes for profit from houses/hotels whenever a player lands on my hot spots. Anyway, all in all, what a fantastic NES game Monopoly is.
