And FYI, I'm an IT professional so the issue isn't with my technical abilities.
I did eventually find a driver which works on 64bit 8.1. The problem was that software and packaging had the completely wrong info and didn't match the device. The driver wasn't easy to find regardless, it took hours of searching and ended up on many sketchy sites before I got something that worked.
But despite the fact that it now appears to work in Windows Media Center, I get NO SIGNAL from any channel in Seattle with the included antenna. I think I'll buy a new antenna and update this review afterward with the results.
Since getting better antennas for the tuner, my results improved only barely. I was able to get a couple channels, although both still very weak signals. I then hooked up the antenna directly to my new HDTV, and found that I was able to receive dozens of channels without so much as a stutter! So, CLEARLY the issue was with this garbage USB tuner all along, it has very poor signal sensitivity. What a complete disaster.. stay clear of this junk.
When my laptop burned out (too much gaming burned out the fan), I replaced it with a Windows 8 machine. I was disappointed to learn that there are no compatible drivers for this device.
I then got a cheap Windows 7 computer from Ebay for the express purpose of using this. I was surprised to find that it suddenly wouldn't work. The drivers installed fine, Windows Media Center detects it, but no signal comes through.
Very disappointed. Gave it only three stars because of this.
Since Windows 10 doesn't even have the option of buying Media Center separately, I'm probably just going to end up recycling this.
You can record programs & store them. It is very easy to hook up. plugs into a USB 2.0 port, antenna hooks to the other end. I got the antenna on a high shelf. In a big metro area you should be able to pick up many more channels than I did. I would buy it again in a heart beat. A remote control came with it but I do not use it as I am at my monitor at all times it is in use.

The device is not working on win 8. It worked on win7 for a few months and became useless. It is a waste.
I regreted to buy this device.
The software would not recognize the hardware and the drivers were not compatible with the hardware. A poor choice for anyone to purchase.Published 11 months ago by XRX 150 Team Member
Junk and waste of time. Included driver does not work with Windows 7. Latest version of driver online is from 2010. What a bummer.Published 13 months ago by dremily
