Product Description

Spread Your Music Everywhere. One of the most popular trends in Home Audio is whole house audio distribution. Unfortunately true multi-zone distribution systems are normally built into only the higher end receivers or require an expensive audio distribution network. A Key element of any home audio distribution system is a speaker selector. The speaker selector allows you-Inch distribute your source signals-Inch several sets of speakers distributed throughout your home. Additionally a good speaker selector like our 4-channel A/B selector listed here will allow you-Inch have different source audio sent-Inch different rooms so that someone in one room can be listening-Inch something different in another room. Most importantly a speaker selector provides impedance matching which ensures that the additional speakers do not overload or damage your amps. The Monoprice MSV-4 is a dual source 4 zone speaker selector with built in independent volume controls for each source. This device can handle up-Inch 100 watts per channel. It supports a frequency range of 20Hz-Inch 20kHz. Accepts wire gauges up-Inch 14AWG and maintains load at 8 Ohms. Installation is straight forward and simple. This is part of making your dream sound system into a reality.

This is a great piece of equipment, and excellent value for the money. Solidly built (does it have to be so heavy, I wonder?), simple to use, very sleek looking (matte black). It is sitting between my Pioneer amp and my Pioneer in-ceiling speakers, which in turn gets its feed from a Toshiba Thrive streaming Rdio -- and everything sounds sweet. Later I might move it to the Lepai amp (LP-2020A+ Lepai Tripath Class-T Hi-Fi Audio Mini Amplifier with Power Supply), which makes a good companion to this selector. Did I mention it works fine? No regrets.

I think mono price speaker selectors are great. The only reason I wanted to stop and review this is to add the 8ohm minimum deal. Most of these units from the various manufacturers keep the ohm load on the amplifier at a 4 ohm minimum. Receivers are more and more coming out with a 6 ohm minimum tolerance. If you use a speaker selector the keeps the load at 4 ohm with one, they'll shut off or over heat. These keep the load at 8 ohms, which will work with most ANY amp so you know your safe.

Other than that, its a solid unit and works great.

This is the most reasonable priced selector with volume control. The heavy construction helps the box stay in place when you push those buttons. I have 3 zones in my house and now volume for each zone can be controlled. the small cable connectors in the rear (that people complain about) don't bother me, you just have to make sure the metal wires do not expose after the cables are connected. it works great overall.

This has been a good speaker selector with attenuation (if you are looking at this product, you probably already know this, but the volume control knobs only attenuate, they don't amplify, so make sure your amp has enough power to drive everything you want to hook up). My only dislike on this is the connectors on the back. They are small screw terminal type connectors, which will accept up to 14ga wire, but for me it took a little doing to get the wires inserted in such a way that I wasn't worried about contact across terminals. The trick is to trim the wire very short before inserting (the manual suggests 1/4", but I found even less worked better), and twisting quite tightly. The labels on the terminals are also a bit small, and not color coded, so just pay attention when inserting your wire. The terminals are arranged negative next to negative and positive next to positive, so when you insert your wire it will be red, black, black, red instead of the more usual red, black, red, black.

Beyond the connectors, it has been great.

Solid build, looks good, and best of all it performs very well. I used one of the receiver speaker connections to hookup three pairs of speakers through the Selector. I cannot notice a difference in sound volume when all three speakers are engaged. Very good price. Recommended.

This appears to be a great component. I was somewhat pessimistic when I ordered it, because of the very reasonable price. What a great surprise. They even thought to weight the chassis so you can push the buttons without moving the whole component.

Quality construction. It is fair to point out that the volume controls go by clicks so you may need to adjust your input volume to get that perfect balance in various zones

I am a professional of some notoriety in the audio industry worldwide, so it says something if I'm impressed with an item. I really do like this loudspeaker selector switch --- so much that I bought another one. The build quality is excellent and the price is right. I do think that even with only one set of speakers playing, the volume through this box is a bit reduced, but the audio quality itself seems quite good. One of the rotary volume controls on mine is a bit iffy; it wants to turn past zero, so I have to baby it. Otherwise, I have nothing but praise for this item and would highly recommend it.
