I initially ordered a similar product from a DIFFERENT VENDOR because the price was a few dollars lower than Amazon.com. However, that company charged me for the product but never sent it to me! I had to get my bank involved to cancel the charges.

Then I decided to go with Amazon.com, even though it was a few dollars more. I received the product in very short time. The quality is excellent. I should have ordered from Amazon.com to begin with! Lesson learned.

The product is a touch screen LCD monitor, 17", 4:3 ratio. I needed that specific size for my digital jukebox. The monitor is performing terrifically. It does not over heat, the screen is very reponsive to the touch. The recalibration makes the mouse emulation perfect. I did not use the stand that it came with...the mounting holes in the back made it easy to mount into my digital jukebox.

I recommend the product if you want to make your own touch screen music player. It is a way to resurrect an obsolete laptop with a sound card and make it useful again.

Other reviews have noted some of these things but here's what I have found. The bezel makes Win8 swipes basically impossible, although there are keyboard shortcuts for them so it's not a 100% loss.

The software from the manufacturer web site officially supports Windows 8 (good) but doesn't seem to "get" Windows 8 (bad). It assumes you don't have a touch aware OS so it does mouse emulation, and the documentation doesn't help. Eventually you figure it out (Mouse Mode: Desktop Mode seems to work the best for me), but there's still a slight delay on registering touches. Just enough to be annoying.

Finally the actual monitor quality is not the highest. It works, but the picture is "off". I can't explain how, it's almost a feeling. I have not spent a huge amount playing with the controls, mainly because the buttons are annoying to use and in one particular way are backwards. So you may be able to get something better with patience.

I purchased the Monoprice 17-inch 4:3 LCD Touch Screen Monitor as a replacement for a Planar 15-inch touchscreen monitor. I bought it because of the low cost. Besides the Planar monitor cost 3 times and it only lasted about 3 yrs before the screen went bad. the touchscreen was unusable because it kept pressing the wrong area where pressed. No matter how much I try to calibrate it. I called Planar and they told me it was not fixable and needed to replace it. I had two and both went bad about the same time.
I read the reviews on thisone and it seems to have some good feedbacks from people who purchased it. So I took the risk and bought this one. I figure It can't be that much worse than the Planars which I paid close to 3 times more.
I am glad I did. The screen was bright and clear. The touchscreen is excellent. I took the stand off and mounted on a arm mount. I used an cheap external cd drive to install the mini cd rom driver because my computer couldn't run the mini driver cd. I was so surprised that It worked perfect right out of the box. I never thought it would be so easy. So far I am so Happy with this purchase. Elo and Planar are priced way to high. If you want a good touchscreen monitor for a lot less the money I encourage you to give this one a try.

I am using this monitor in a POS application. It saved me a lot of time and embarrassment by using this Touch Screen Monitor.
This screen acts just like a console with push buttons so i don't have to try to move the arrow to the icon or object. I recommended it to my friends and everyone is satisfied with the results. I think you can't get a better deal then this for this price.

I bought this monitor because of its cheap price and apparently got what I paid for. The monitor worked for less than a month and the screen just shows all white now. While it was working, I was not thrilled with the wobbly nature of the stand that comes with it. The monitor oscillates back and forth if you touch it with any force.
