Great job shipping and packing. No working Win 8 device driver. Did find a Win 8 driver at "[...]" Even this would not install USB 3.0 support. Might work great under XP, Vista or Win 7.

It worked for me in an old HP laptop that was the first model to have an express bus slot and the old PCMCIA/card bus slot.

YES, it is narrow but if it moves around in your laptop slot it is the fault of YOUR laptop. My old laptop is fine.

USB-3 is faster than E-SATA 3 but today right now, there are no drives that push that limit, so you will see no difference in speed, just more things that plug in. it works with old USB devices too
.
So far I have only tried it under XP.

It does include a small “pig tale” to add extra power for devices that need it, like a Seagate backup plus 2T drive. Just plug the “pig tale” in to any close old USB port.

If I lose it would I buy it again? Yes I would.

I purchased this and selected a "used" one from Amazon warehouse. I used it in a Dell latitude E6400 and an e6410 and found that the transfer speed was about the same as using the on-board e-sata. It required a driver to be installed but worked for Windows 7 32 & 64bit. I returned it because it was a hassle to make sure it didn't move due to the express card slot being wider than the card. If it got bumped it would lose connection and would need to restart the transfer.

It doesn't provide a reliable usb connection. I've figured out how to keep it from self-ejecting, but with both of my two external hard drives (one is a WD Elements, the other is a Seagate Backup plus) I get errors that I don't get when I plug them in elsewhere.
