I was looking for a solution to extend HDMI with a Cat 5 or Cat 6 cable. I decided to give this kit from Monoprice a try to see how effectively it could do that for me.

The Monoprice device utilizes the HDBaseT format, which they claim can support 4k content. 1080p or less should work just fine, and I was able to successfully transmit video footage from a video camera through a 75 foot cat 6 cable. The kit also includes an IR blaster and receiver so I was able to use the camera's remote control without having to do any programming.

This was a very simple kit to set up - no programming or dip switches. Just plug and play and it should work without issue. It can support cable lengths of up to 328 feet, but the devices can also be daisy chained together for additional range.

When I purchased a new house, the builder had already ran CAT6 in the walls in multiple places. I was fairly new to HDMI over Cat, but after doing research, I picked up 5 of these units. Three are setup in the media shelf in the living room; One goes to the TV above the fireplace, and two go to TVs on the back porch, all connected to a Denon Receiver. The Living Room TV is on the main HDMI output, and the Two Outside TVs are connected to the transmitters by a HDMI splitter. They are all perfectly in sync, which was a concern I had before installation. There are no picture quality issues, no interference issues, and they work flawlessly. They also come with IR Extenders, which is a huge plus, as well as the ability to run internet over the cable as well(which I have no use for, yet). The other extender is setup from the Bedroom TV, to a smaller TV in the Master Bathroom, setup on an HDMI 2x2 splitter. Again, no delay, and no issues.

These things are absolutely spectacular for the price. I would highly recommend them.

I've been using three of these to drive three 1080p monitors on CAT6 at 50ft from a GTX980. No issue with picture or sound over HDMI. Only complaint is that the monitors do not exit from standby when the PC is turned on. There's no wake signal that is usually sent. Otherwise the picture looks normal with no noticeable delay. Would recommend.

Very good quality and a good price for an HD base extender. Easy to set up and use. While offered for sale in Australia it did not offer the option of Australian power supplies.

This let me easily pass 1080p video across ~75 feet of a single Cat6 wire. The connection picks up immediately, and doesn't have any drops. The one piece I did have trouble with is the IR transmitter/receiver. I wish they had used smaller pieces that were easier to hide instead of the larger transmitter and receiver. Also, the receiver seems somewhat finicky, and unless the transmitter is pointed directly at it, it doesn't seem to acknowledge the signal. As a result, you should be prepared to have to secure the receiver so that it doesn't shift over time and get out of line with whatever you're using to transmit to it (In my case, the signal from a Logitech Harmony base).

I probably wouldn't take off one star if the unit were about half the price it currently is, but at $200, I shouldn't need to spend more so that I can get a decent IR transmitter/receiver.

I wanted to move my DVR away from the TV into a closet, which were connected by CAT5 cable, but where pulling new HDMI wires would have been difficult. This fit the bill perfectly. I've been using it for a couple of months with no problems. Wiring needs to be gigabit-capable for this to work. I had two CAT5 wires available, and one of them was only supporting a 100 megabit connection because of poor quality connectors. The HDBase extender did not work on that wire, but did on the other wire that was capable of supporting 1 gigabit.
