4.0 out of 5 stars more quirky adventures of the food detective and his sidekick, March 26, 2008
This review is from: Monsieur Pamplemousse and the French Solution (Hardcover)
Although no Pamplemousse sequel has ever scaled the hilarious hights of Michael Bond's first gastronomic detective book, this is a worthy continuance of the saga. Along with new food sensations and various ingenious ways to execute a budgerigar, this new adventure reintroduces some older characters such as the Mafia uncle who tenderly enquires your boot size before mixing the concrete, the Director with his love of complicated gadgetry but general inability to resist lovely women and a sister-in-law who cooks tripes for her visitors.

The identity of Le Guide's food critic is exposed and Pamplemousse offers his resignation from his job rather than retire his comrade Pommes Frites. The Director ordains a blindfold test of dog palates to establish the true gourmet canine. Only Michael Bond could do justice to the ensuing chaos !

Buy the series while you are getting this book - you will not be disappointed but be warned - this is definitely for adults. Michael Bond might have written Paddington Bear and his friends but Msieu Pamplemousse is off limits for kids.
