Clear Signal,

I tried a radioshack brand transmitter first, but it was too staticy for me to want to keep it. I returned it and picked up this one. The signal comes through clearly in the south of Boston area. It seems to work well even when there's a competing signal (I don't have to switch stations on a long drive).

Bought this item because my truck has no cd player and the cd player in my car is dying.
Am using with an mp3 player and very satisfied. It's very well designed- the piece that plugs into the cig. lighter outlet is nice and small(I previously owned another brand and the piece was very large and awkward). That's because the power unit and the transmitter itself are separate, so both are small. Everything, including my mp3 player fit into one cupholder right below the power outlet. The transmitter couldn't be much easier to use, just click to change frequencies if you need to, then adjust the car stereo to match. Can't vouch for the long-term reliability yet, but keeping my fingers crossed- the other brand that I owned didn't last long, so I'd suggest handling one of these things very carefully. Basically, if your car speakers are good and the radio works, there's really no need to buy a new stereo unit- just buy this unit for $20 and plug it into your mp3 or portable cd player. For those who don't understand how these work, it just converts your cd or mp3 player signal into a radio signal that your car stereo picks up and plays.

Provides very good radio transmission. The sound volume is a little lower than regular radio station, and the sound has less fidelity than the regular FM station, but it's very close. The cigarette lighter plug is great for placement.
