It's Alive.,
By
This review is from: Monster Blood (Goosebumps Series) (Paperback)
MONSTER BLOOD is about a twelve year-old boy named Evan Ross who is forced to spend a few weeks with his deaf great aunt. Evan's father is being transferred to Atlanta, Georgia and the only person who can watch Evan while his parents are househunting is great aunt Kathryn. One day while on a visit to an old toy store with his new found friend, Andy, Evan buys a can of stuff called "Monster Blood". Evan doesn't think much of it and he and Andy spend the afternoon playing with the green silly putty-type substance. However, as time goes on the monster blood begins to grow and starts to act like its alive.
I enjoyed reading MONSTER BLOOD. It was pretty short and not too scary. It also had an unusual twist at the end.

This book I am writing about is Monster Blood. It was written by R.L. Stine. It is the first of four books. It is my favorite out of the four. It makes the most sense. I have read this book numerous times. It takes place in Evan's Aunt Kathryn's house. She is deaf and very creepy. She always talks to her cat Sarabeth. Could Sarabeth be talking back? This book is very creepy and also very sickening. But it is is sort of a love story. Evan and his friend Andy are flurting with each other. It is a good book and I hope you will read it. I recommend this book to anyoneone who likes a surprising ending.

Conor L,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Monster Blood (Goosebumps (Sagebrush)) (Library Binding)
This one is book #3 and called 'Monster Blood'. It's a four-part story. 'Monster Blood' is about a kid named Evan Ross. His family is moving to Atlanta, and he has to stay with his great Aunt while his parents are picking out a new house. Aunt Kathryn lives with her black cat Sarabeth. Then Evan meets a girl named Andy, and they become friends. They go to an toy store and find a can of Monster Blood. They think it's a fun toy, so they buy it. But it turns out that the can of Monster Blood is real and it starts to grow and grow and will not stop growing! I don't want to ruin the ending for you so you'd better go read it to find out what happens to them!

The third in the Goosebumps series, Monster Blood is a riot of creepiness and is sure not to disappoint! I think I see a pattern developing (though I suppose three books in is a bit too soon to make any final judgments)...this series seems to be more about a campy and creepy type of vibe than a truly horrific/scary one (though the first one, I felt was genuinely scary in places), I'm getting a bit of Tales from the Crypt Jr. feel as I am going through the series and I rather like that.
In this volume, we meet Evan (and his new friend Andy). Evan has come for a few weeks to say with his Great-Aunt while his parents are looking for a new home for them to buy...the main problem with this being that his Great Aunt is deaf, stubborn and a bit creepy. After being dropped off, Evan is sure he's going to be miserable for the whole time he's there and this is largely confirmed when he is immediately set upon by the local bullies (twins). He is temporarily saved by Andy who quickly becomes his friend and they set off together to browse the old toy store that is going out of business. As Andy looks for a present for her cousin and comes up empty handed, Evan discovers a can of "monster blood" and simply must have it. The owner sells it reluctantly and Evan and Andy scurry out of the shop with their new prize. After getting it home, they play with it for a while and as with all Goosebumps books...it's all down hill from there. Something strange is happening with the monster blood...it's growing, expanding and starting to take on a life of it's own! What will Evan do...how did this happen, read and find out...you won't be disappointed!

I was addicted to these books when I was younger and it wasn't until I was majoring in education in college that I figured out why. They were interesting with bizarre plot twists that most 9-12 year olds don't think about and they were short (this one is 124 pages). I could read the whole thing in a day.My parents also didn't have a lot of heartache with buying me a new book because these are relatively inexpensive (in the neighborhood of 3-5 bucks each). R.L. Stine's "Goosebumps" books aren't scary, just kind of creepy. There aren't graphic descriptions of murder and mayhem. Just some ghosts, werewolves, or potions. The main character is alive in the end, and the final chapter resolves everything. **Keep in mind, R.L. Stine has other books that aren't in the "Goosebumps" series that tend to be a little harsher when it comes to hauntings and plot. They are written more for the 12-14 age group and are longer (around 150-200 pages).

A scary Book,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Monster Blood (Goosebumps Series) (Paperback)
This book is about a boy moving in with his Auntie and one day he comes home and he yelled to see if someone was home. Nobody answered. He saw a door and it opened. He saw a cockroach in a spider web, it was nasty. His mom jumps out from behind him and scared the daylights our of him. In the 3rd and 4th chapter, Ross and his new friend Kathryn went to the store. Kathryn bought some ooze. When Ross and Kathryn got back to Ross's house she opened the ooze and the dog ate it and died. This is a scary book but it is kinda funny. The people who haven't read the book yet, you would like it.
