5.0 out of 5 stars High Quality
I first purchased a cheap 3rd party component cable from Amazon.
What I didn't realize is that the cable is of very poor quality, I assumed this was the case because of the price.
I thought I might get away with something that worked for really cheap. (I was wrong)

There's simply no reason to pay such high prices for a cable that doesn't work any better. There is no difference between the picture quality that you get from these cables compared to that of other third party component cables that can be purchased for around $15 to $20. Even Nintendo's official component cables are cheaper than these.

5.0 out of 5 stars High Quality, February 9, 2011

This review is from: Wii Monster Cable GameLink Component Video and Stereo Audio A/V Kit (Video Game)
I first purchased a cheap 3rd party component cable from Amazon.
What I didn't realize is that the cable is of very poor quality, I assumed this was the case because of the price.
I thought I might get away with something that worked for really cheap. (I was wrong)
Component is obviously much better than the factory composite cables, so I won't get into that.

Those cheap cables have little to no shielding in them, which in my case, caused very noticeable interference on the TV.
I saw about 3 sections of 'fuzzy' scanning lines, slowly making their way up the screen.
I searched this issue and found some people could get the lines to go away if they unplugged the audio, wiggle connectors, etc.. none of this worked for me.

The interference sections are quite annoying, so I went ahead and bought this Monster component cable.
They were cheaper than the official Nintendo component cables at the time of purchase.
Once I received the Monster brand in, I compared the two cables.
The Monster cable is of MUCH higher quality (double shielded was the selling point for me)(solid feel to it).
Monster cable is about 3 times the thickness of those cheap 3rd party cables (no joke).

When I started the Wii with the Monster cable hooked up, the image was rock solid!
No more annoying fuzzy scanning lines!

In my opinion, I'd recommend buying this cable over the cheap 3rd party cables any day.
You're chances of interference is much lower with the Monster cable.

5.0 out of 5 stars What else do you expect from Monster, February 26, 2010

Exactly what you would expect from Monster. Great quality product. You'll see a lot more jaggies with your Wii games, but that's just because the picture is so much sharper and clearer. Nice crisp, clean colors. I bought this cable to replace a Nyko Wii component cable that kept dropping colors. Will go with Monster first from now on.

4.0 out of 5 stars Helps improve picture on HDTV, October 22, 2009
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Wii Monster Cable GameLink Component Video and Stereo Audio A/V Kit (Video Game)
I bought the Monster component cable for Wii at Target for $26 and I did notice that there is now a wider color range, colors are not oversaturated or muddy as before. A lot of the jagged black lines are gone. I know that its not HD, but it is a lot closer to HD than before.

I played Super Smash Bros Brawl and the graphics are sharper with a wider color range. Muramasa and a Boy and His Blob NEED the component cable just because of the amount of colors on the screen.

I had been playing these games for a few weeks so I noticed a difference. But yeah there are a few people who don't notice. This could be because they were playing on small screens to begin with -- but I'm playing on a 46" Sony Bravia so I noticed a difference in resolution.

ALSO, I did notice that the sound improved. I wasn't sure if it was the cable, but according to the Amazon description, the cable helps improve the sound too.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Absolute Must Have for the Nintendo Wii, September 5, 2011

Since the Nintendo Wii does not have HDMI, playing video games and watching Netflix via the Wii on a HDTV is not as much fun with the standard A/V cables provided by Nintendo. These Monster Component Video Cables are not HDMI, but as close as you can get to HD with the Wii. These cables are an absolute must have for any Wii fan.

I know some people are complaining it's 2 - 3 times the price of lesser brand versions but I've always trusted Monster w/other cables in my media room due to it's reliability & quality. If you look at it next to another brand, you can tell it screams better quality but that's just my humble opinion. Besides, not like it's more expensive than the Nintendo-branded version (this was actually less expensive than the Nintendo version at the time of my purchase). BTW, remember to verify you're getting the package model that ends in CVA-10, NOT CVA-8 because that's the older version w/an 8-ft length versus 10-feet for the new version (same price).

The picture i'm getting from this thing is better than the one offered by the Wii branded product. Wii video quality isn't the full 1080, so those looking for the absolute best video compared to a PS3 or Xbox 360 will probably be disappointed, but that's not a function of the cable.

That having been said, component cables do provide a significant improvement in appearance. Color and sharpness are improved, and it allows for progressive scan (if your television supports it). I highly recommend buying a set of component cables, especially for an EDTV or HDTV, but I do not recommend these specific cables.

5.0 out of 5 stars nice product, June 23, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Wii Monster Cable GameLink Component Video and Stereo Audio A/V Kit (Video Game)
I will start off with the fact I wouldn't have purchased this product for the usual price. When I bought it, it was twenty dollars including the shipping, which is cheaper than I could buy the Nintendo cable for. As far as the quality, it looks like a quality product, and the picture improvement is fantastic. I went from a 27inch non-lcd tv, to a 1080hd 42inch flat screen. On the new tv I could see the poor graphics more clearly, so I decided I'd get either this or the Nintendo cable plus the new tv only has one a/v input, which Id like to use for my ps2 that we use for dvd's. The improvement from the standard cable to the 480 display is incredible. I mostly play BlackOps, but playing games like sports resort etc, its still fantastic. I can't make a comparison between this and the Nintendo cable, but if you can buy this for twenty bucks shipped I say pull the trigger and buy it. You wont regret it.My only complaint, granted its minor, is that i wish the cable was black so it would blend in with all the other cables a little better.

3.0 out of 5 stars Okay Cable, March 10, 2010
= Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars

This review is from: Wii Monster Cable GameLink Component Video and Stereo Audio A/V Kit (Video Game)
The video quality of this cable is not much better than the composite video that comes with the WII even when I changed the WII settings to 480p resolution with this cable. I'm using a 32" Sony Bravia 1080i LCD HD TV, and I didn't notice much (if any) difference. However, I like the construction of this cable more than the standard cables that come with the WII. Overall, I'd get the cables again, but don't expect to be wowed by the improved resolution, unless you have a large HD TV where small improvements in resolution will show.

There are some reviews of this product that say you cannot run the audio cables to an amplifier. This is likely true since the cables leaving the bundle are short and can probably only reach the TV (if you're connecting the video directly to the TV like most people). However, most TVs have audio outputs that you can run to the amplifier. Another option would be to buy a female-to-female RCA coupler and have short audio cables to run to your amplifier.

Although the resolution on the wii is 480i or p. Adding these component cables added alot of clarity and sharpness. Definately helped close the gap!
