pain in the ear

Pain in the Ear

One of the best ways to listen to music from portable media and home media devices is through in-ear headphones. Their small design makes them more portable and less cumbersome than bulky on-ear headphones. However, in-ear headphones can be ill-fitting in your ear, causing them to let in outside noise, let out sound, slip out of, or even cause discomfort in your ears with materials that do not make a perfect seal.
The right eartip needs to provide the best possible sound, stay in place during workouts, and be comfortable to wear while you are enjoying your music....
Its All in the Tips
Monster SuperTips feature proprietary materials and engineering to deliver performance you won't get from any other                                                            eartip. With SuperTips, you'll get deeper, tighter bass and a more dynamic range all with comfort that stays in place.

Here More Music and Less Noise
Supertips form a perfect seal in your ear to block sound from coming in or going out creating an ideal acoustic chamber in your ear. This optimized listening environment isolates and seals out outside noises providing an incredible music experience. All you hear is music...
Ordinary foam eartips absorb sound waves, deaden bass and decrease accuracy before they reach your ear. SuperTips' feature a constrained layer that keeps sound waves undistorted and clean from speaker to eardrum to provide the cleanest, most accurate sound possible

Comfort Everywhere You Go
The portability of in-ear headphones makes them perfect for working out, bike riding, running, or even sleeping on that long flight. When performing these activities, comfort is as important as sound quality. Monster SuperTips pliable gel and ultra-soft foam materials conform easily to the shape of your ear canal. This makes for a comfortable fit that reduces ear fatigue, and stay in place during activities, letting you listen for hours...

Freedom of Choice
Never tried SuperTips before? Then the sampler pack is for you. The right fit is the difference between good and great sound. The sampler pack comes with all sizes of both gel and foam SuperTips so you can try them all out. Once you discover which SuperTips works best for you, replacement kits are available with six  pairs of your size plus a bonus revolver eartip case.

Customer Reviews

The Monster foam tips are horrific!
If you get a good seal, it's only because your ear canal just happens to fit the tip, which is the opposite of what it should be.
These were all too large for my ears, even the small sizes.

I purchased this product to go with my Dr. Dre beats on-tour headphones. Do I regret getting these....HELL NO. I thought my beats had awesome sound but after these I wouldnt go back to the factory tips. The bass is amazing along with the amazing noise canceling. I walked by guys breaking concrete and I could hardly hear it. To me thats amazing. Seriously get these tips and I guarantee you wont regret it. There is only one con which really doesnt matter they can hurt when in your ears but its just like a tattoo or piercing, hurts at first but the pain goes away and then awesomeness.

small is the same as the beats 2nd size.
small/medium is the same as the beats 3rd size.

Highly recommend.

Firstly, I will say that these sleeves are a lot better than a lot of the ones that I've tried; and I've tried a lot. You can tell that these have a lot more thought and quality put into them than most others. Typically, you just get a silicone sleeve that may or may not fit in your ear the way you need it to. With these, since it is a combination of silicone and gel/foam you get the best of both worlds.

I opened the package and immediately tried the xl gel sleeves. They fit very well but I figured I'd give some of the other sizes a try. After all, this is a sampler starter kit. So I moved down the line to the large size. These seemed perfect. I was really excited. These could have been the perfect sleeves for my IEMs! Once again, I decided to move down the line and try the mediums. The mediums fit pretty well too but not as well as the large size.

Just for kicks I decided to try the foam sleeves since they were just sitting there all lonely. Typically I do not like foams beause I feel like they muffle the sound too much. They add a lot of bass and block the treble. But again, I figured why not try. As I suspected I did not like the sound that the foams provided. Not to mention, it was a lot harder getting these on my monitors than the gels. That's not to say that they were impossible to get on, just a little more patience was needed.

Okay, so the large sized gels were going to be my choice so I decided to put them back on. Do you know what happened? When I put one of them on the gel actually oozed out of the sleeve! Ew! It got on my fingers, it got on the tips of my monitors, etc. The gel literally exploded. The sleeve itself now looks like a balloon that's losing helium. It sort of 'popped'.

These were definitely not worth the purchase, I ended up going back to my stock tips.

First of all, they're sized too big. I wear a medium in the Sony Hybrid tips, and the extra small monsters were a tight fit.

The foam tips are VERY stiff and noncompliant. They simply don't compress enough to get into the ears and form a good seal. I'd recommend the Comply foam tips over these in a second.

The only size of the gel tips I could comfortably use was the extra small. Remember that even if you are used to using a larger looking pair of silicone tips, they gel filled ones will NOT compress, so you may have to go down a size or two just to get them into your ears. My gel tips were deformed with flat spots from being in the blister pack, and this did not resolve over time at all. The gel tips provided good sound isolation, but were uncomfortable over time, and I would inevitably have to pull the buds out of my ears for a rest after less than an hour of use.

There are much better alternatives for your money.

I own the Monster Turbine in-ear headphones. I bought the SuperTips because none of the tips that were supplied with the Turbine earphones fit correctly in my ear. If I were doing anything but sitting, the Turbine tips would easily slip out of my ear. However, the SuperTips (especially the gel tips)are totally opposite. I have no problem walking, jogging, or working outside and they stay firmly in place. The foam tips are a little tougher to get in place and, for me, don't fit quite as well as the gel tips but they still do a good job.
Comparing the sound quality to the original Turbine tips, the gel tips sound better but the foam tips sound a little worse. With the gel, the bass is slightly punchier and mid-range is also slightly improved. This is probably because these fit so much better than the original tips. On all levels, the foam does not have the sound quality as the gel and is slightly weaker than the original tips. However, this is due more to them not fitting my ear canal than due to the material they are made. Also, I found these to be much easier to change out on the earphones themselves. Swapping from tip to tip with the originals could be frustrating at times. These are slightly firmer and make swapping between sizes a breeze. Overall, I am very happy with how these tips are made and how they sound.
If you need more sizes of ear tips, this pack will do the trick. There is a small step-down between each of the five sizes so there will surely be one size that fits snugly in your ear. Also, be sure to try ALL the sizes. With the Turbine tips, the largest size fit my ear best. With the SuperTips, the second to smallest size fit perfectly. Don't just assume since a large or small size was best in one type of tip, it will also be best in these. If you decide to buy, you won't be disappointed.
