Book Description

How-To October 2003
Monster Garage turns ordinary vehicles into mind-bending machines like the "Doom Buggy," a Mazda RX-7 converted into a sand dragster, the Ford Explorer converted into a garbage truck, and an ambulance converted into a wheelie machine. Jesse James and his crew will tap the experts used on the number one Discovery Channel show, Monster Garage, to create a comprehensive guide to customizing your car, motorcycle, mini-van, pick-up truck, toaster, . . . you get the idea. Each section will take you through the process of creating a Monster custom, from planning the project, through building custom bodywork, to adding bolt-on bits and custom paint. The techniques are explained through illustrated diagrams, formulas when necessary, and step-by-step original and Monster Garage archival photographs.

About the Author

A prolific author and photographer, Lee has contributed words and images to more than 30 books as well as dozens of national magazines including Men’s Journal, Draft, and Motorcyclist. His favorite assignments typically involve some kind of motor vehicle, and they have put him in the seat of a T-6 WWII military trainer, a 12-horsepower Farmall tractor, and a 500-horsepower open-wheel racer. Motorcycle adventure travel is a passion, and he has covered stories on five continents including a 500-mile ride through the Bolivian Amazon and a 2,000-mile blast through Alaska that included taking the dubious advice of the former truck drivers who frequent Hope, Alaska’s dive bars. An unrepentant Packer fan and a shameless book junkie, Lee plans to continue pursue his quest for the perfect mini corn dog in the dive bars of the world. He resides in Austin, Texas.

1.0 out of 5 stars Nice picture book..., May 20, 2007
This review is from: Monster Garage: How to Customize Damn Near Anything (Paperback)
...but not very useful for anything else. Monster Garage's How to Customize Damn Near Anything is nothing more than the best bits from the other three books in the series: Fabricate, Weld and Paint. But if you consider that the oher three books aren't up to par, the "best bits" do not amount to much. It's not even of interest to Monster Garage fans as, like the other three books, there is nary a mention of Monster Garage or Jesse James.
