4.0 out of 5 stars Monster Cable HDP 2400 High Definition Power Center
So far, I am very happy with the product. It's hard to be 'sure' that it's really working and protecting, but if the blinking lights and changing display is any indication, it shows how the power definitely fluctuates. 3.0 out of 5 stars First time for everything
Well, I have bought many items from Amazon over the years, and never have been disappointed with any of my purchases.

However, I guess there is a first time for everything. The unit arrived via ups and I promply read the notes on how to segregate the heavy current items and the analog components from the digital items, i.e. HDTV blue ray player Uverse box,...

So far, I am very happy with the product. It's hard to be 'sure' that it's really working and protecting, but if the blinking lights and changing display is any indication, it shows how the power definitely fluctuates. At first, I was a little disappointed, as one of the buttons to 'dim' the display, was 'sticking', and I was about to return the product. The same type of button for the power, seemed to work perfectly fine. It seems that after a few days of usage, the button (I guess) worked in a little, and now is working just like the other button. Very sleek, good looking unit, and doesn't generate any kind of unexpected heat, noise, or otherwise.

I've had it for a few weeks now, and so far, so good.

4.0 out of 5 stars Does its job, February 12, 2009

Great little clean power system, Hooked up my samsung LCD52a860. Also I have my home theater system hooked up to this. For now I don't really notice any difference in picture quality when playing HD DVDs but sound quality is way better, from hearing static when not connected to the HDP 2400 to hearing nothing at all when connected to the HDP 2400 that's a good thing when the tv is off.

5.0 out of 5 stars Already Working and Saved my TV, November 15, 2009
This review is from: Monster Cable HDP 2400 High Definition Powercenter (Electronics)
This monster is already saved me a lot. i bought the HDP 2400 after a power surge had fried my HDMI ports on my Samsung TV , My DVD player and my cable box. Thank god , everything was under warranty. But the Samsung tech. told me that i need to get a batter surge protector and power conditioner. While searching online came across this product, looks very good ordered it. I hooked it up very simple. It has label on the back side where you want to hook stuff up. Like your cable box, you want to plug in to out late that is always on. Dvd player , video game stuff like that, you can hook to out late that are disconnected when you are not using them, saving them from surge and save some electricity as well.

After hooking up, two days latter, while watching tv, all of a sudden it turned off everything. I show the voltage and it was a big power surge. Thank god, i had this stuffed hooked up otherwise it might have done more damage. I could not turn the TV up for next 10 min... until the power come to normal.. This is really cool product saved my electronic stuff from frying.

3.0 out of 5 stars First time for everything, February 4, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Monster Cable HDP 2400 High Definition Powercenter (Electronics)
Well, I have bought many items from Amazon over the years, and never have been disappointed with any of my purchases.

However, I guess there is a first time for everything. The unit arrived via ups and I promply read the notes on how to segregate the heavy current items and the analog components from the digital items, i.e. HDTV blue ray player Uverse box, etc.

I plugged all into their respective power plugs, and then plugged in the unit.

When I got off the floor and faced the unit, I quickly found that the switch circuits worked, and the non-switched circuits did not. They should have come on the moment I plugged the device into the wall outlet.

Those are the ones labeled digital circuits. I had to contact the seller and make arrangements to have them send a RA and shipping label. I have now returned and will have to wait to see if they are going to repair my unit or send me a new one.

Either way, I am still excited about the protection this device claims to provide. One last caveat. The red led's even on the lowest setting are to bright. I am glad you can cut it off. You can always turn it back on to check the incoming voltage.

Edit: It took about 2 weeks, but I was sent a brand new unit. It is working just fine. I am happy again and even have bought two more items from amazon since I wrote the original review.

3.0 out of 5 stars Noticeable Sound Difference, Ugly as Sin, December 27, 2009

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

So, after spending a considerable sum of money on my two-channel audio system, I couldn't very well leave it unprotected against the notoriously bad power and wiring of my 32-year-old home with aluminum wiring. I was looking for a reasonably priced solution and I found this unit at a local electronics store. List price is $399, average selling price was $299, and my brick-and-mortar retailer of choice had it for a deal at $199. Amazon's price of $120 is simply amazing. Beyond price though, what does this unit offer?

Pros:

- High current outlet to protect my NAD C352 80wx2 integrated amplifier. I notice no clamping at start-up, and the sound seems clean.
- Analog outlet for my Rega Planar 1 turntable (hard to find these days).
- Digital outlet for my NAD C545 CD player.
- Digital display of the volts running through the system (when the nasty display is on - see below).

Cons:

- Just. Plain. Ugly. My system has a sophisticated and understated look to it. When the lights are in one of the various stages of brightness on the Monster unit, it looks like it belongs in a cheesy disco or strapped to the underside of a modified mid-90's Honda Civic driven by a teenager. Ugh. That said, you can turn 90% of the display off, but then you lose the voltage read-out. Not ideal.
- The power and display buttons need to be held for a moment and pressed just right to work - not very touch-sensitive.
- No remote
- The Monster brand is not as "high-end" as the rest of my system so it makes me feel like I skimped (my own ego here). If you are looking for a fancy brand - check out some of the offerings at Audio [...]. Panamax makes a nice component if you want to spend a bunch of money.
- Did I mention that it was ugly?

All that said, this is a very capable product that delivers what Monster promises, i.e. massive protection of your expensive components, cleaner sound (audibly so), plenty of outlets, and most of all, peace-of-mind for an unheard-of price. Since I have no video components hooked up to the unit, I can't comment on that, but the outlets are there and I have no reason to think they don't work as intended.

Bottom line: If you can stomach the disco-like, boy-racer, gauche look of this unit, you will be pleased with it's performance.

This review is from: Monster Cable HDP 2400 High Definition Powercenter (Electronics)
I'm purchasing my second one of these today. I had the first one for 3 years. Just had a major power surge and this little machine saved all of my home theater equipment as well as my sonos stereo system. Thrilled I had this product in place.
