My favorite part of the survival guide is the part that no one else has mentioned so far (and what makes this toy somewhat educational). There is a very basic sewing pattern in the back for a simple dress sized for the Monster High girls. It can be used to teach the kids to sew, read (and modify) patterns, and draft their own! This is just a very cool addition to the doll, especially for crafty children who are just starting to learn to sew, and it makes a great mother-daughter project!
I will warn you that both of Frankie's dresses run a little short on her. The dress created from the pattern is also very short. I could see some parents have problems with that, but the length of the default dress isn't too noticeable when she has her apron and tights on (it actually looks more like a tunic with leggings). You'll also want to wash her bangs when she comes out of the box, since the adhesive makes her hair seem very stiff, but once her hair is clean, it's gorgeous!
If you're just starting into Monster High, this is a great doll to pick up. I'd recommend this to adult collectors, children, and children at heart.
The classroom playset comes loaded with extras: she comes with gingerbread cookie of her dog, mismatched dress in her trademark colors of white, blue, red (love how one side has a collar and trim and the other side doesn't!), a very "Frankie" apron, fabulous shoes, an extra dress, locker with working lock, brush, pen and pad, and baking powder. She's all ready for Home "Ick" (home ec.) to get started.
The locker is great - a neat little storage chest with hanger inside to hang her dress and a cute little working skull padlock - it clicks open and closed to keep the inside contents of the locker safe!
This is one of the best of the series because it is loaded with "Frankie Stein" patworked together pieces: from her dress to the apron. There are also MH stickers to personalize the inside and outside of her locker.
In all, these playsets are very neat - from kid's perspective, the difference between these playsets and the standalone dolls is that the little familiars/pets have been replaced with a locker and dress. If your girl is more into dress up than playtime, these make a much better giftset!
