I am an adult doll collector, and I LOVE the Monster high dolls.

The problem we have had is that the legs of the dolls are held together with a gold elastic band between the body.

So glad I didn't have the money to spend then, or else I'd be kicking myself now!

I am an adult doll collector, and I LOVE the Monster high dolls. They are adorable and strange, and very poseable. Yes, they do come apart (some articulated dolls do...I've got several 27cm obitsu dolls as well that do the same thing, albeit with 'tighter' joints). I think that they were probably aiming for an older audience (preteen maybe?) with these toys. The joints could be a little less loose, and they definitely need to put out a Ghoulia doll (maybe more clothes as well for the characters). But all in all, I think the dolls are wonderful, and quite appropriate for girls who play carefully instead of dragging the poor toy around by the hair or a limb through the dirt. Like with all things, one really needs to use common sense when purchasing toys for younger children. If it has small parts, probably not for them.

I have to admit, my daughter and I were a little concerned when we saw the reviews of this doll. We weren't sure whether to order it or not. In the end, my daughter decided to take the risk with her birthday money. As it turns out, there's really nothing wrong with the product, in terms of quality. The legs and arms are made to come off, making clothing changes easier.

These dolls are the cutest dolls ever - but I have had 2 dolls fall completely apart within an hour of being out of their box. Now, I understand that the arms are meant to disconnect and we have had no problems with that at all. The problem we have had is that the legs of the dolls are held together with a gold elastic band between the body. This elastic, if not assembled properly, becomes pinched in the plastic of the doll and movement of the dolls legs breaks the elastic piece by piece until the dolls legs fall completely off and there is no fix for this! It does not matter how gentle you are with the doll - if the elastic was pinched in the plastic when it was made then the doll WILL break. I have called Mattel twice about this problem and recommend any other mother who has had a problem with these dolls legs breaking off to call them as well. My girls are older and within the recommended age limits for this set of dolls. The issue is a manufacturing error and Mattel needs to redesign. An elastic piece holding a dolls legs together is poor and cheap design and needs to go back to the drawing board.

HI, I JUST HAD TO MENTION TO ALL THOSE REVIEWERS WHO COMPLAIN ABOUT HAND AND ARMS FALLING OFF THESE DOLLS, IF YOU READ THE DIRECTIONS, THEY ARE MADE TO DO THAT. YES, HELLO, IT HELPS OLDER CHILDREN, AND ME THE PARENT IN CHANGING THE SKIN TIGHT CLOTHING ON THE DOLLS. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I HAVE EVER SEEN DOLLS COME APART FOR CLOTHING, AND NO THEY DO NOT JUST FALL OFF UNLESS PULLED OFF, AND THEY CLICK RIGHT BACK INTO PLACE. MY 7 YEAR OLD LOVES THESE DOLLS, BUT SHE UNDERSTANDS THE CONCEPT OF REMOVING LIMBS TO CHANGE FASHIONS. I HAVE TO HELP MY 5 YEAR OLD CHANGE THEM, BUT OTHERWISE A PIECE OF CAKE... I CERTAINLY LOVE THEM TOO FOR THAT. EVER TRY CHANGING A DISNEY PRINCESS DOLL WITH THE FINGERS SPREAD APART AND SKIN TIGHT CLOTHING ON THE ARMS, ALWAYS THE SLEAVES GET RIPPED TO SHREDS WHEN CHANGING. THESE ARE GREAT, SO GLAD MATTEL CAME UP WITH THIS CONCEPT FINALLY, AND YES, THE BOX STATES IT IS FOR 6 YEARS AND OLDER FOR A REASON.

get slammed by sellers because I talk about price? Bet I will. But being budget conscious these days, I have to talk about price. As a parent I appreciate knowing the quality and VALUE for price that items are.

So I can say sure, pay what you would for a Barbie,$19.99 retail. If you can afford it, $24.99 is fine with reasonable shipping.

It's a cute doll, my daughter really enjoys it. She marches to a different beat sometimes so these really were up her alley. But even though she loves them, I could not bring myself to pay more than the $25 for this doll. It's just inviting money to the trash can if she mistreats them or outgrows them. She;s actually been very careful with them and I have imparted the info provided here about the arms and legs to her. But even she is aware of the VALUE of the dolls and knows she won't get one on ebay for $60 or even one here at an inflated price.

Now I know I will get sellers slamming me that this is about the product and not pricing. But for those that live within their means, I know they will appreciate knowing what things are worth and what things are going as fads and will surely come down in price.

Again, they are fun dolls, they are really along the lines of Barbies. So if you'd pay $40 for a non collector Barbie, then sure go ahead. They're cool dolls.

I love the Monster High dolls and these poor ratings are completely inaccurate! Just by looking at their clothes, the webisodes, or even the books, these dolls were meant for older kids. I collect them and my 9 year old sister buys her to play with. She's 9. She's not prone to losing small parts (and yes, these dolls all come with small parts) and she's old enough to understand that a delicate doll should not be placed in young hands. These dolls are more fragile because they come with more detail than a durable Barbie and they are meant for a more mature audience. I love all my Monster High dolls and not a single one has broken, and that included the ones played with by my sister. So although defective dolls are out there, maybe more of the blame should be cast on the hands that play with them.
