5.0 out of 5 stars Well it helped do something....
I have a small 19" flatscreen in the kitchen, and when turning on the microwave the tv would flicker. I went out and bought this hoping it would help, and low and behold it no longer flickers when turning the microwave on. Not sure if Stage 1 filtering is a bunch of BS (90% positive it is...) but, I know the flickering from a microwave is BAD for my sensitive tv. So for...

I plugged my power center into the wall outlet and connected my tv,etc.

What confused me was in the instructions - it says "Warning - in the event of a lightning storm, immediately disconnect your Monster PowerCenter from its power source. After you've done this, it's not necessary to disconnect any components from your Monster PowerCenter"

Am I missing something? I thought the purpose of the PowerCenter was that in case of a lighting storm you could still leave everything plugged in. Maybe I misunderstood what the purpose of this PowerCenter is.

4.0 out of 5 stars A little Power please, February 17, 2010
This review is from: Monster Cable MP HT 200 Home Theatre PowerCenter with Clean Power Stage 1 v2.0 (Electronics)
So if you have a house with plenty of outlets and only want to protect your big TV and the cable box from a Power spike this is perfect (5 star). If you're like me though and need one outlet to service your tv, modem, xbox, 360, computer, all at the same time, this just isn't enough. The warranty only covers items directly connected so while a cheap power strip could be attached to this (which I did for a while before I bought this guys bigger 800 series brother) only the power strip would be covered. Enjoy.

Not sure if Stage 1 filtering is a bunch of BS (90% positive it is...) but, I know the flickering from a microwave is BAD for my sensitive tv. So for that important reason, I recommend one. Definitely get a surge protector on every TV in your house, if not Monster get a decent one. (not the same as a power strip!!!) Take care

Product is well designed and made installation easy. Really won't know how effective it is until a lightening strike occurs.

If you have invested into a decent home theatre, then you needa to protect your investment. This surge protector seems to do a good job. The TV still works, and we have had a few power failures. In the past I would receive interference from other electrical items, but that is no longer the case

5.0 out of 5 stars Small, cheap, tough, October 5, 2004

So far, I have not faced a power surge to see the effectiveness of the product, but I can say it is small, holds a very good load (in joules) and is pretty cheap compared to other high end options.

4.0 out of 5 stars Much better than a massive surge protector, November 22, 2010

I only wanted this to plut in my LED TV, where it couldn't reach my other surge protector. I didn't really want to run an extension cord, and really didn't want to buy a big honkin' surge protector just to plug my TV in, so this was perfect. That it had co-ax connections was even better. Makes me feel much better, knowing that my expensive TV is protected, the peace of mind alone is worth the $25. The only reason I don't give this great product 5 stars is:

-Although it's much smaller than a standard multi-outlet surge protector, it's still much larger than I was expecting.
-As another reviewer stated, this is not intended to be used with decor style outlets, because this has a screw in the middle that screws into the hole that holds on the cover plate. this is to help secure it, I get that, but it took a great deal of effort, and fear of something breaking, to get it out so I could plug it in.
-The outlets themselves are EXTREMELY tight. I had to practically throw my weight behind the TV plug to get it in there. I'm afraid of how hard it will be to pull out. Don't ever buy this if you intend to plug-unplug stuff from it on a more than once basis.

This product solved my ground loop problem. The hum and lines are gone, with the cable running through the Monster Cable Power Center.
