5.0 out of 5 stars sw 200 saves subwoofers again
I have two subwoofers with a home theater system. My SW200s have saved the subwoofers three times (while giving up their lives). First time was after a large ice storm (Feb 03). Second time was the aftermath of a hurricane (Isabel). Third time was after an small ice storm that was accompanied by high winds (Feb 05). Each time power conked out and came back on (with a...

I was getting some feedback over my subwoofer, so after trial and error with the manufacturer, we determined it was a power problem. This was supposed to 'clean' the power to reduce interference. This, however, was not the case. It did a little in reducing the buzz, but by no means did it eliminate it. I ended up plugging the sub into my APC power strip and it works fine...

If someone just needs surge protection or a minor power interference, I'm sure this would work well for them. In my case, it did not fit the bill

5.0 out of 5 stars Priceless, February 9, 2006
This review is from: Monster Cable MP SW 200 Subwoofer PowerCenter SW 200 with Clean Power Stage 1 v2.0 (Electronics)
Went searching for a two outlet surge protector mainly just to protect my CD player and use the other outlet for my headphone amp when I discovered that it does some other important things as well.First,it's contacts are 24k gold plated providing very good performance. Second, it has Monster's stage 1 clean power curcuitry built into the unit that reduces the common pollution that comes from everyones standard house outlet. Also very easy to install;just remove the single screw on your standard wall outlet and then plug the unit in and secure the unit to the outlet with the screw that comes with the unit. All in all,a cheap alternative for providing clean power and excellent surge protection for most entry level devices.

My new polk audio subwoofer has a very low hum when plugged in and not in use. I bought the MP SW 200 WITH CLEAN POWER STAGE to eliminate this hum without paying up for a larger surge protector which i didn't need. However, the hum still exists. Boooo!

On the bright side, the surge protector appears to be in functioning condition, so hopefully it will protect my sub.

good protector, bad instructions with regard to hooking up to the socket, remove the center screw before mounting or risk a short circuit.

Product failed(beeping) after being plugged in for 30 minutes. I returned product for credit. I am replacing it with the Panamax surge protector.

1.0 out of 5 stars A real monster, August 21, 2007
This review is from: Monster Cable MP SW 200 Subwoofer PowerCenter SW 200 with Clean Power Stage 1 v2.0 (Electronics)
I plugged it in and the surge audible beeper instantly sounded off. I unplugged it and plugged it into a different recepticle with the same result. I called monster and the tech support guy assured me that there had been a surge through my wiring and the SW200 had sacrificed itself to protect my subwoofer, I hung up laughing. I never had a chance to plug the subwoofer in.

eliminated the hum coming from the power source where my sub is currently plugged in to, therefore it is safe to say that this unit works just as my systems are safe, and the price, can't beat that and delivery, as promised, within three weeks, i'am happy and satisfied!!!

I was laying down on my couch in my HT room and was awakened by a loud POP! It was my sub blowing. It had no signal going to it and nothing else was being used on that circuit at the time. Luckily my Acoustic Research surge protector saved my DLP, Receiver, and Xbox 360.

5.0 out of 5 stars Monster Cable MP SW 200 Subwoofer Power Stage, July 8, 2006
This review is from: Monster Cable MP SW 200 Subwoofer PowerCenter SW 200 with Clean Power Stage 1 v2.0 (Electronics)
The purchase was made to protect my investment of a subwoofer that costed over $1000. The product is well worth the cost for what it will protect. The product indicates protection from voltage and current spikes. Plus this product is great for equipment not located near the main theater equipment power surger.
