A great, fun, not-scary Halloween book.,

This review is from: Monster Mischief (Hardcover)
This is a terrific and fun Halloween book. The rhymes and candences are delicious; the plot is PERFECT for the young child. Pamela Jane (who writes the Winky Blue books) is a really talented writer who seems to know small children so well. The illustrations are great fun and add to the words. A great read aloud.

Beautiful, detailed, water-color illustrations; wonderful rhyming text with a cute plot in which the plans of six smiley monsters endeavoring to make monster stew on Halloween go awry; "Six monsters frolicked all night long. They skipped and sang a spooky song. That monster Moe, he sang and danced and ate so much, he split his pants.", a halloween book that is fun but not scary; refreshing and just delightful.

Monster Mischief Indeed!,

I was instantly drawn to Monster Mischief by the happy cover page. It's simple, but effective, and if you're looking for fun, non-scary Halloween books, the dancing monsters with wide grins will set you curious. The text is amusing and colorful, and bounces along. There are only 32-sentences in this book, so an attentive 3-years old will appreciate the tale.
The illustrations are friendly, non-violent, and there's no blood and guts. The pictures are bright and colorful, and they convey the story with humor, and merriment. Overall, a GREAT book that little children from 3 to 6 will enjoy, although 7 and 8 year olds might be bored! |
