I wasn't sure what to expect when I received my Monster NCredible NTune On-Ear Headphones. When I think of "Monster", I think of overpriced audio/video cables and accessories. For the most part, I was pleasantly surprised after trying out the Monster NCredible NTune Headphones. Right out of the box though, I was disappointed by a couple of things. The included cable is quite short. It has a 1/8" plug for connecting to most portable electronics. Much to my astonishment, Monster does not include a standard 1/4" adapter for listening to most home audio systems. I own several pairs of full size headphones from various other manufacturers, and all of them have both 1/8" and 1/4" plugs included. Since I already have an adapter, this wasn't an issue for me. But if I didn't have one on hand, I would have not been happy. The included cable is detachable from the headphones, and this is a positive. The headphones themselves are lightweight for an "on-ear" headphone, and comfortable. The build quality seems OK, but nothing special. I tested them using my portable iPod, and my home Onkyo audio system. I listened to several types of music, and turned off all equalization in order to hear what the headphones really sounded like without any "help". Right from the start, I noticed the headphones delivered strong, powerful bass. Even if I cranked them up to the maximum safe listening level, the bass did not distort. This is something even my high end Sennheisers can not handle. Listening to Rock and today's new Electronic Music at loud volumes sounded great. When I changed the pace and toned it down with some Jazz, New Age, and Classical Music, etc at lower volumes, this is where the Monster NCredible NTunes didn't shine. They by no means sounded awful, but their performance was no better than average.Read more ›

I received mine as a Christmas gift. Right out of the box I knew they weren't going to be durable despite the heavy feel to them. I knew I would have to be extra careful with them no matter what. I did exactly that yet they broke on Feb 25 while I was taking them off my ears. The left side cracked right through. Seems to be a lousy design for a product priced in the range it is. I have used $50 headphones in the past that lasted years not months. I did get a replacement pair today but am afraid to take them out of the box. The good though is I absolutey loved the sound on these and was actually using them in my music studio for monotoring with amazing results. If it weren't fear of this terrible build quality on quality sounding muffs I would be rocking em out now. I am thinking of selling the replacements I got. When or if these break again on me I couldn't finiancially replace them. So maybe I will sell these and get something that are more durable

I'm a heavy user of headphones. In the past I used various types of ear buds and a few different brands of headphones; but none compared to these. The sound quality is excellent. They deliver a deep rich full sound quality. At first I thought them to be a little heavy on the bass; but as I used them over a period of time I came to really enjoy them.
Another thing I really enjoyed was the comfort. I've used a number of different headphones over the years; and this is the first set I've come across that I can lean over with and have them not fall off. I'm not sure how they can combine headphones that don't fall with comfort; but they do. I've worn these on many occasions for several hours at time and been very comfortable; no problems with ear pain, due to crushed ears.
To some up: Rating something like this is always going to be subjective; but I tested these on almost all genre's (I don't care for most Rap); and found them to perform incredibly well. I found them to be comfortable to wear for hours at a time. I haven't used the switch/microphone with phone yet; but I'm looking forward to trying it. They are a little pricy; but they deliver.

I am an admitted headphone addict because I prefer to listen to music with headphones so, I'm always looking for the perfect pair. I have to say, I'm loving this pair of Monster NCredible NTunes right now. I am comparing them to a pair of Bose QE2's I own which are in the same price range.

I compared both sets on a Dr. John song and wow..what a difference the Monster N-Tunes made when I tested the Bose QE2 against them. The Monster headphones have a much clearer sound and I heard things on "My Children, My Angels" that weren't as clear with the Bose.

Pluses besides the fabulous sound are: Tangle-free cable, Noise cancellation, distortion-free, set your music for loud and it doesn't hurt your ears, good padding-for long wearing.

Cons-the Monster N-Tunes headphones do not fold-up for traveling. Also, there isn't a travel case included, but there is a tiny cleaning cloth.

In addition:The Monster N-Tunes headphones comes with a built in remote (on the cable) for ipad/ipod and it let's you switch between music and talking on your phone. I probably wont' use that feature so, someone else will have to review it's performance. I do know the remote button is sensitive because I hit a few times and Dr. John's vocals shut off but the music on the song kept playing.

WARNING...UPDATE: December 6, 2012

After only 7 months these Monster HP's broke today. I take really good care of my headphones and I put them on to listen to music but the left side broke off. I checked it out and it's the side that has the Control Talk marked 'L' inside.

Each side has a small black plastic part which is labeled, "Monster" and it broke right there by popping off the plastic part and left the dangling headphone still attached to a wire.
