Product Description

Protecting Your Digital LifeDon’t Risk Leaving Your Photos, Music, Videos, and Documents Unprotected
Common power surges and spikes can occur several times a day and can easily damage or destroy your delicate digital circuitry in computers and AV components. Even worse, electrical noise and interference can corrupt important data: your digital photos, videos, and critical documents.

PC Clean Power Stage 2Exclusive PC Clean Power Filtering with Advanced Surge Protection
Electrical noise and interference is generated by virtually every electronic device and appliance. Unfortunately, this problem can affect computer performance, causing faulty data transfer, data corruption, and even system lockups in more severe conditions.

Dual Mode PlusThe MDP 900 features PC Clean Power Stage 2 that removes electromagnetic and radio frequency noise to ensure reliable data transfer and reduce wear on delicate digital circuitry.

For advanced protection against powerful surges, Monster® Dual Mode Plus™ sounds an alarm and automatically disconnects, isolating your equipment from dangerous power conditions. Cable modem, DSL, and Ethernet connections can also carry damaging power surges and spikes. To ensure complete protection of your computer and home theater equipment, the MDP 900 also has surge protected coax, network, and phone connections. Limited Connected Equipment Warranty

We’re Monsterously confident about the MDP 900 surge protection, which is why we’ll replace up to $300,000 worth of your equipment if it’s damaged by power conditions.

GreenPowerSave Energy, Save Money
Monster GreenPower™ is a revolutionary new way to automatically reduce energy waste and save you money. Simply plug your computer or AV receiver into the GreenPower Control outlet. When it’s turned off or goes to sleep, the other GreenPower outlets switch off, automatically eliminating energy wasted by connected equipment – like your printer, scanner, HDTV or subwoofer – when you’re not using them. When your computer or AV receiver is turned back on, the GreenPower outlets automatically power up again.

Surge Protected USBConvenient USB Charging
The MDP 900 features two high-current surge protected USB ports for safe, fast charging of MP3 players, digital cameras, cell phones, and other electronics. This frees up USB connections on your computer, and outlets on the PowerCenter™ for your printer, external hard drive, and other peripherals.

PowerLine CommunicationPLC Network Compatible
Powerline Communication, also known as HomePlug®, is a revolutionary home network system that works on your home’s existing electrical wiring. You can easily create a home network access point anywhere there’s a power outlet. Ordinary surge protectors can block PLC, but the Monster MDP 900 is engineered to allow full-speed PLC network communications.

I guess theirs no quality checks.

By cutting power to components like your printer and monitor when you're not using them, you reduce wasted energy and lower your monthly electric bill.

This is just a 10 outlet power strip. The energy save feature does not work. When my computer is powered on and I'm typing on it, the power strip will randomly turn off my monitor and external hard drive. When the computer goes to sleep, and then wakes up, the power strip is not capable of recognizing this and will not activate the 'Green Power outlets'.

It looks nice, it just doesn't work as expected. It's like buying a 2011 Corvette where only 3 cylinders work.

After spending an hour crawling around behind my entertainment unit trying to plug in my tv, receiver, htpc, game boxes and everything else into this power strip, I now find out that nothing that is plugged into the green power outlets will turn on.

This sounds like a great idea, but it simply does not work. Save yourself the trouble, especially if you have 4" of space to work in behind a giant wall unit, and get something that does not have these "green power" outlets. On the bright side, I guess I am saving lots of electricity since half of my equipment will not turn on now. And I am pretty thrilled at the prospect of getting to do this all over again with another power strip.

I find this product to be great and useful, but sometimes there is a delay. I have my ps3, tv, surround system, and lamp hooked up to this outlet, and I have everything set to turn on when I turn on the ps3. At times it works like a charm and does exactly what its supposed to do, but at random times there is a delay on which devices receive the power. What I mean is that sometimes my devices would power on in sequential order instead of all turning on at once like it should. The delay is noticeable too because it is a 1-2 second delay before everything is powered on. This is not a huge deal for me, but it might be to some so that is why I am mentioning it.

Power strip works great for my computer. I tried to use it with my AV system but it didn't work very well. Probably need the AV power strip for that but with my computer it works great. It cuts power to my light, printer, speakers and monitor upon shut down.

I purchased this for my enertainment setup (37" flatscreen, DVD player, Xbox 360s, Direct TV box, Kereoke machine, 1TB external drive connected to Xbox). The idea of something that will shut off the equipment when not in use to reduce my "vampyric" energy consumption is great, plus protecting my phone line, my sattilite connection, and my main entertainment set up in one device -perfect! The device does shut everything down when I turn off the TV, and everything powers up to standby mode when I turn the TV back on. I would like to note there is little room for those sideways transformers, like on a powered external hard drive. But as far as the "Green power" function, works great.

I would have given this 5 stars plus, but.... the wall mount holes on the back are some non-existant tini tiny screw, with what takes a magnifying glass to find excuse for retaining tabs. Can not secure this in a wall mount position, you are a slave to wherever you can drop it and the cords reach (hope they don't suspend the surge protector by being too short). This also handycaps the coax protection, as you are forced to place the device where the coax can reach a spot instead of wall mounting to get things off the floor and centrally located. Deduct a star.

The USB charge ports do not work. I tried to charge one of my old MP3 units(RCA 4GB), it puffed smoke! Thankfully I didn't try my phone first. I have litterally a box of USB chargers, but was hoping to just use this, nope. As it was an older not used that much MP3, I'm not too upset, but had it fried my iphone.......
Deduct a star for unsafe USB ports.

I like how the unit has a lighted square to indicate protection and operation. Adds to the look and atmosphere of my set up, cord is nice and long with a flat angled plug.
If sending this back for an exchange did not involve moving a massive dresser and the bed to move the dresser, would have. At least the clean and green power works.

I have had one of these on my computer for a year. When I turn off the machine, the speakers shut off. Nice.

Bought this one to turn off a powered USB hub for my PS3. Kinda overkill, but for $40 vs non-stop-blinking-lights, its worth it.

Just saw this same powerCenter900 in a store for $119. Cough.

UPDATE: I wanted to update this review because even though it was a pain to order another one of these, and I will have to wait a bit for my refund,it still seems to be a nice product. Now that it actually works I am very impressed with how seamless it is to have the power strip automatically shut down all your peripherals and then start them up again. There are plenty of sockets on this model (10) and it has a few extra goodies as well -- It has 2 usb charging ports which are awesome for an iPod or the usb powered fan I use to blow hot air away from my graphics card during gaming. It also has 2 coaxial in's and 2 out's, an ethernet in and out, and a phone line in and 2 out. I haven't really checked to see if these actually create a noticeable different in quality but when using these connections but they are great to have just because you can use it as a cable extender. It is wall mountable as well, for anyone who wanted to know that lol. I definitely don't regret re-buying this product, but it stinks that I had to, so for that I am revising my score to 4 stars. If it would have worked the first time it would be a 5 star item so far.

I am extremely upset with how this product performed as I actually expected an expensive surge protector to work. I have only used a cheap surge protector and had absolutely zero problems with it, but because I just put a lot of money into my PC, and I'm a CIT student, I wanted to protect my investment. I'll just cut to the chase, right when I tried to turn the surge protector on it made a really loud pop and instantly smelt like it fried. Luckily everything seems to be ok but I'm really mad that this thing didn't even work for ONE second. Just for the record I only tried using a PC (550w PSU), a monitor, my speakers, and a wireless router on it before this happened, so it is definitely a faulty product. I don't even think I want to try another one of these things.
