Product Description

Product Description

Based on the animated TV series, Monster Rancher BattleCard will have you collecting discs and transforming them into collectible battlecards. Once you've acquired enough battlecards, take them into matches where you can use them to attack, defend yourself, increase your power and intelligence, evade adversaries, and more. Each victory will bring you closer to the Master Class and toward becoming a Monster Rancher Master. Best of all, you can compete against other Monster Ranchers with a separately sold Game Boy link cable.

Product Description

Your goal in life is to become the world's greatest monster breeder. In order to do this, you must travel around the world, challenging other breeders to card matches. If you win, you will collect more cards. If you can pass all of the license matches and collect all 100 cards, you will join the ranks of the master breeders. Before every match starts, each contestant presents a team of monsters and draws five cards (the cards are used to attack the team of monsters). However, if you don't like the cards you've drawn, you can discard some but that will award your opponent Guts Points. Every card requires a certain number of Guts Points to use, so discarding too many cards will give your opponent an advantage. Try to keep all of this in mind as you fight to become a master breeder in MONSTER RANCHER BATTLE CARD GB.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a great game! ^_^, April 19, 2000

Although Monster Rancher Battle Card seems rather Pokemon-ish at first, it really develops its own style down the road. The battles take long, but are exciting since there are three monsters on each side. The battles can be shortened, however, by turning off the animation.

It is also neat because you can get different teams depending on how you answer the questions at the beginning of the game. Oh, and the battles aren't that hard to figure out if you thoroughly read the instructions and practice a few times.

Now, the game may seem boring at first, but it gets a lot better once you reach the master rank! It is quite addicting, just as the two Playstation Monster Rancher games are. I sincerely recommend this game! Buy it whenever you have the chance to ^_^ The wait for it to be released was definitely worthwhile

This is a great GBC game! a must have, i find it better than pokemon, for you don't "catch" the pokemon in "pokeballs". I found that kinda dumb, but Monster rancher battle cards is not only fun, it's addicting! you have to earn your monsters, not catch them. at first it seemed like i wouldn't like it, then i got into it: it is great, especially if you like looooong battles.

Signed, Jim-Jim

5.0 out of 5 stars Being factual about this game, May 31, 2000

Well, I saw this game when it was fairly new to the market so I bought it, being a general fan of the monster raising genre. This game offers complexity and no two monsters are the same. The breeding feature makes you able to build up super monsters, and it's very fun to see each combination. This game is not only for Pokemon fans. Any RPGer with a like of monsters should get this game. I personally love this genre, so it was right up my alley. Some problems with the game are that it's annoying how some of the monsters no matter how many pieces of meat you throw them won't join. Another is when you leave them on the Ranch too long and they become wild. Of course, this can be avoided by putting them all to sleep when you go into the Mystic World. Running out of Warpwings in the Mystic World is really a pain. Battle graphics are pretty basic, but fair. My favorite artist in the world, Akira Toriyama*the guy who made Dragon Ball Z and Dr Slump* did the character designs and it shows with each new and unique monster you meet. I like the fact you can talk to your monster, and they talk back to you if you go to the right place. Each monster has an attitude, either good, medium or pissy, and each fights differently. I have yet to beat this game, and I started it over about three times since every time I learned a new technique. It will keep you busy for hours.
