Ideal component cables,
By
This review is from: Monster B SV1CV-1M Component Video Cables (1 meter) (Electronics)
First off, I think Monster drastically inflates the prices on it's products. I think they make excellent stuff, but just charge way more than they should. These cables appear to be an exception and are actually reasonably priced. If your needs call for a short component cable, this cable is the ideal and as good as it ever needs to be. I can't possibly believe that buying a "better grade" cable would ever be noticable by any mortals in an A-B test..... even the purist of videophiles.

I was using bottom of the line, 8 foot cords, for all my connections... I figured having a shorter cable, made of gold, would make the picture even better than it was... There was absolutely no quality improvement by switching to these... I have great eye sight as well... Both my roommates agree with me as well... These are great if you want short, easily manageable cords, but not worth the money if it is just for "quality" improvements...

No problems but I have to look very closely to see any improvement over my old composite video cable connection. I'm basing this on the picture from a standard DVD played on a standard DVD player. If I had High Definition TV or DVD, maybe there would be more improvement.

A lot of variables affect perception of A/V performance,

I saw a huge difference in performance improvement after replacing my s-video cable with this Monster Cable 3-Foot Component Video (BSV1CV-1M).
I too get really tired of hearing the snobbish gibberish from people who claim they are the last word on performance - be it Audio / Visual, automotive, power tools, whatever. I just know what improves what I see or hear when I watch my DVDs, or sattelite broadcasts. The Monster Cable 3-Foot Component Video (BSV1CV-1M) have improved my enjoyment of home entertainment. Will it do the same for your setup? I don't know. You can always try em and see and if they don't help, send em back. Rock the VOTE! John Row

I've purchased a lot of cable recently including S-Video, Component Video, and Optical Cable. I purchased this short cable to run data from my progressive scan DVD player to my Denon 987. And to be perfectly honest, the stuff Sears sells in their audio/video department works just as well as Monster and costs quite a bit less. Mind you, I'm not anti-Monster, heck my house is filled with 100s of feet of 16-gauge Monster THX cable. But you can get really good cable for a lot less if you look around. Try Ebay for starters...

This Component Video Cable is one of the better home electronics purchases I have made. I bought a Toshiba 51" HD-ready big screen, an Onkyo Theatre-in-a-box, and a Toshiba progressive Scan DVD player. I used these cables to connect the DVD player to the TV for picture (and optical cable for sound). There is quite a noticable difference in quality to the S-video output I was using prior to purchasing this cable. I would have to say that the picture is better than movie theater quality. You absolutely have to get this cable if you are considering purchasing a progressive scan DVD player and an HD or HD ready TV (plasma too for that matter). This cable lets your system be the best it can be, and will probably remain top-notch as long as component video is the best AV solution.

compared this cable to a philips performance component cable and i am not impressed it was the exact same in picture quality.
all your paying for is the name.. why spend 50$ when you can spend 20$ on the philps and get the same thing??

I read all the reviews before I bought two sets of these cable for the connections between my HD box and DVD palyer to the my new DLP HD tv. The picture was greatly improved compare to the picture of using the S-video.
As someone suggested here, I also tried ebay but did not find anything that worth buying compare to this model.

S-Video vs. Component on a 14" Flat Screen,

I can't believe this item hasn't been written about more often. At the time of my purchase it was ranked in the top 450 in sales at Amazon. As for the cable, I purchased it mainly out of curiosity--to see if there really was an improvement over S-Video. I'm currently using a 14" JVC I'Art Flat Screen TV and a Toshiba SD3950 DVD player. To my surprise there is a slight difference in look between the two when viewed on a small monitor. The S-Video is slightly washed out whereas the Component cable deals better with the contrast. Without using any of the DVD presets (e.g. "Enhanced Black Levels") shawdows and dark areas seem richer and the colors pop out a little more--although its probably not as noticeable to the average consumer. For myself, who is really picky about the look, it was worth it at such a cheap price. For most conusmers using a 14" screen it won't matter and using an S-Video cable along with tweaking the DVD presets to "Enhance Black Levels" they should be fine.
