Not your usual Sudoku,
By Jude (Keyser, WV United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Monster Sudoku (Paperback)
I found this book after having tired of the typical 9 x 9 grids and immediately fell in love. There are four difficulty levels (delicious, pernicious, malicious and vicious) using 15 x 15 grids. Fill-ins are 1-9 and A-F. At first it was odd to use both numbers and letters, but it didn't take long to adjust. The harder puzzles are not so difficult as to be impossible, and all of the levels are a terrific challenge. If you want something other than the usual boring 9 x 9 grid, give this one a try. This is really a fun book!!!

This book will keep you interested forever! I pull it out whenever I ride the bus, at dinner when my spouse goes to the bathroom, even before bed! I'm so challenged by the possibilities that I am hooked for good! What in the world do I do when I'm done with this one?

This book is a lot of fun for those who have gotten tired of the glut of easier 9-square sudokus and are looking for something more challenging but not frustratingly impossible.

A Unique Challenge,
By Lokesh "Mediator" (Corinth, MS USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Monster Sudoku (Paperback)
I bought this book at a local store because I sought a new challenge. Containing 625 grid squares can be rather intimidating. However, if you apply yourself you will soon become obsessed with the challenge. When I'm engrossed in the 25x25 grid my mind is focused only on the task at hand. It is equivalent to deep meditation. Doing monster sudoku has given me better concentration skills and helped develop a higher level of patience that also serves me well when tackling the really hard 9x9 grids. Ironically, these puzzles help relieve stress and satisfy my interest in ever harder mental tasks.

This monster sudoku is different then the other books I have purchased. It is a bit more of a challenge because the squares are 5 across and 3 down.

I have a hard time finding more copies of this challenging sudoku book. It is well worth the time I put into working the puzzles. The squares are large enough to comfortably make notations. I have bought many of these books and still enjoy the puzzles. It's impossible to remember the solutions from one book to another so that makes it a buy for me when I finish one.

I have worked my way through 5 copies of this book over the last few years. I get warmed up with the easier puzzles and work all the way to the "vicious" puzzles. I find it difficult to find new copies at a reasonable price. If you can find this book, buy it! Once you get hooked on these puzzles, there is no turning back!

Overpriced,

My husband and I loved this book. It takes about three hours to finish the puzzles. However, we bought it an airport bookstore for less than $20.00. I am looking to buy a new one since we finished the last one we bought, but seeing it for over $35.00 or more is CRAZY!

Sometimes more isn't better,
By Math Man (Illinois) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Monster Sudoku (Paperback)
I love puzzles and Sudokus and was excited when I first got this, but it quickly lost its allure. Instead of being challenging, it's simply tedious having more digits to fill in. There's no real difference between this and a regular 9 x 9 Sudoku; it's just more work. This is one of the Sudoku variations I tried after working through Will Shortz's Favorite Sudoku Variations: 100 Kakuro, Killer Sudoku, and More Brain-Twisting Puzzles and thinking that all Sudoku variations would be fun, but this one certainly wasn't.
