2.0 out of 5 stars Shilling...
I'm quite shocked at the blatant shilling for this product. Some of the reviews are even reposted with the exact same text from months back. Beware when reading marketing text posing and actual customer reviews.

This review is from: Monster Cable TGHZ-2RF Two Gigahertz Low-Loss RF Splitters For TV & Satellite 2-Way 2 Gigahertz RF Splitter (Electronics)
After making some recent upgrades in my primary audio/video system it became clear that the two way splitter that the cable company provided was simply inadequate to the task. Upon doing some research I determined that this particular splitter made by one of the industries most reputable manufacturers was going to have to be the way to go. Upon hooking up this superior two-way splitter in conjunction with Monster's MV3F2M NF Video 3 coaxial cables there was quite a wonderfully distinct difference in the picture on my new television.

After seeing such a distinct improvement in the signal for my primary audio/video system I immediately went out and purchased another one for the computer room to use for both the cable modem and the television in that room. This is the perfect two-way splitter for either a television/cable modem hookup or a television with PIP (picture-in-picture) capability in conjunction with a cable box or satellite receiver!

I highly recommend this outstanding cable splitter to any and all who're interested in getting the best picture available from their television sets or signal for their cable modems. The end results far outweigh the costs for this splitter! {ssintrepid}

4.0 out of 5 stars One of few Monster products that's worth the price., October 30, 2007
This review is from: Monster Cable TGHZ-2RF Two Gigahertz Low-Loss RF Splitters For TV & Satellite 2-Way 2 Gigahertz RF Splitter (Electronics)
While I'm no big fan of typically over-priced and over-hyped Monster products, I'll readily concede that this beats any of the 9 or 10 other splitters I tried. I see comments here from users who say they can't see a difference with this product; my comment to them is that they need a better tv. I also noted one reviewer who somehow heard that this splitter can't be used with CATV (It can, and I've been using mine for over a year with my digital cable hookup). Advantages: less noise and grain than others I've used, and channels at the frequency band extremes look much better than my cable company's "free" piece of junk. Most notably, this splitter maintains excellent image contrast and has no visible chroma effects that I can see. Few splitters can manage all this. The only product I've tried that might beat this is a $[...] job whose brand I don't remember (probably because I ain't spending $[...] on a splitter, for any reason). Even if you're not crazy about Monster in general, you'll get your money's worth here. I'm using two in my setup with a CELabs booster amp.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Phenomenal!, August 8, 2000
This review is from: Monster Cable TGHZ-2RF Two Gigahertz Low-Loss RF Splitters For TV & Satellite 2-Way 2 Gigahertz RF Splitter (Electronics)
This 2Ghz splitter is sooo good, I would easily pay twice the price for it and it would still be worth every penny! I have a TV tuner in my computer that has the cable signal passing through FOUR of these Monster Cable 2Ghz splitters, and there is virtually no signal degradation, most notably on the troublesome lower band channels like 2 and 3.

The reception on our big-screen TV is the best it has ever been, too, using this splitter and the high-quality MC coax cable.

_Before_ I installed these MC splitters, I was using the best gold-plated splitters available from one of your favorite national electronic parts suppliers around the corner, and the signal for channels 2 and 3 was basically dead on arrival with extremely snowy picture and noisy sound interference.

Great job, Monster Cable! You've done it again by proving that nothing else compares. Thank you!

I really hate having to split a line. It lowers the signal strength a lot, exposes the signal to interference, and creates a failure point. There isn't much you can do if you need a split, though, other than doing it as well as you possibly can.

This is a very heavy duty splitter. It has high gauge lines, and a well-sealed outer grounded shell to keep out interference. While it is true that standard cable signals do not go over (or even approach) one gigahertz, I like that this one is designed to handle the much more difficult to protect two gigahertz signals that are used in DSS satellite dishes. Frequencies that high are difficult to keep from leaking out, so if it can handle those I know I don't have to worry about the lower cable frequencies leaking out either.

Overkill for most, but cheap insurance to help protect a common source of noise and interference.

5.0 out of 5 stars As advertised, September 10, 2007

When Cox Cable installed cable in my home they had the main cable feed a 4 way splitter that all went to different rooms in my house. That was fine. When I called them back to add another connection (the cable was already run) they were apparently too lazy or too cheap to put in a 5-way splitter outside so they just tapped into an existing connection and installed a 2 way splitter in the attic.
While I always had an OK picture on the 2 sets that were affected by this installation they were always a little fuzzy (especially on the lower channels) and would sometimes ghost for a few minutes.
I bought the Monster splitter because it was a lot easier to try and change out the splitter that Cox installed than to replace the splitter outside. OK, it wasn't easier, but it was cheaper.
I'm happy to say that it worked great. I compared the picture on those 2 sets to one that's fed directly from the box outside and there isn't any difference in the picture.
This thing works. [...].

I bought this along with a monster cable... now I know monster is way over priced but I think this splitter is worth it.

I wanted to hook up my cable modem and my cable TV with no loss to my cable modem and it did what it said it would.

I wont give it 5 stars because I know it's [...].

I was having a lot of problems with cable access in my apartment and I wanted to do something about it. I had 3 tvs and two computers sharing the same cable signal, and in the bedrooms I was getting a lot of static on the tv at the upper range of channels. Well I got tired of it, and the cable tech (over the phone) said they tested the pipe going into the apartment and it was fine, so I decided to take matters into my own hands.

I went into the closet and found that they had used a really crummy low-end splitter, and after unscrewing the wall panel in my bedroom I found another one in there.

Well, I bought two of these Monster splitters and immediately replaced them. I am not going to say they fixed the problem, because they didn't, but they fixed it about 65%, which was enough to make the problem go away entirely in 2 of the rooms -just not in the 3rd one.

If you are having problems with signal degradation it might be worthwhile to check if the splitters are part of the problem by buying one and testing it out. It is a low cost, low hassle option, and you can ALWAYS use a splitter of your own somewhere.

I have had good luck with Monster products...

What the cable companies provide in 1Ghz cheapo coaxial splitters is insufficient to get the best TV picture quality, particularly if one has several coaxial cable connections relating to TV's and broadband internet. I found in using the increased bandwidth of the Monster splitters of 2Ghz having improved the sharpness of analog and digital cable TV reception. Additionally, as more people are opting for HDTV sets and broadband internet connectivity, reducing signal loss will provide one potential improvement relating to multiple connections. Other issues relate to dirty AC power interference and the quality of the cabling used, (such as superior performance in S-Video or composite cables), so the solution to maximize your signal quality is multifaceted. It is recommended to use either the 2 or 3 splitter variation. The 4-splitter model has more signal loss. Use the splitters at the entry point and where one splits coax between the TV and other components such as DVD/DVR's.

Very high quality splitter. I have not used any other splitter - so can't compare it. But it did absolutely fine to split a HDTV antenna output.
