Product Description

Home Theatre Picture and Sound Keeps Getting Better DVD and Satellite Receivers use high performance connections like S-Video, Component Video, and Dolby Digital Surround Audio. Using high quality connections is more important than ever, to get the most out of these technologies.

That's why THX, the industry leader in sound quality certification for movie theatres (you've probably seen the famous THX logo in movie theatres and DVDs), collaborated together with Monster Cable, to create connection standards specifically for home theatre.

Today's Home Theatre Components Need Higher Quality Connections
The cables that come in the box don't meet Monster THX standards. Some of the connections you need don't even come in the box, including S-Video, Component Video, and Digital Audio for Surround Sound.

Introducing the Monster Standard Line of Monster THX-Certified Cables
Although Monster Standard THX cable doesn't feature many of the advanced technologies found in our higher performance product lines, it still packs plenty of Monsterous features: higher quality gold tip connections, user-friendly features like color-coded connecters & ID labels for easy, error-free hookup, plus increase power handling of speaker cables to deliver the full dynamic range of explosions and crashes found in today's movies. And dig the stylish, futuristic connector design inspired by Lucasfilm's Star Wars epics.

Product Description

THX is the audio equivalent of the Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval. This label appears only on products that meet or exceed a stringent set of technical standards, established by engineers at world-renowned Lucasfilm Ltd. - notably responsible for the Star Wars films. The cables used in large quantities in home theater to connect components can be subject to frequency response and noise problems if not designed and constructed properly. Monster THX V100 CV-16 is built to the most exacting specifications, ensuring the broadest bandwidth and most uncolored signal that's technically possible. To quote George Lucas - The combination of THX and 5.1 digital sound is the absolute assurance that consumers can now experience the finest sound reproduction from their Home Theater.

5.0 out of 5 stars What an upgrade, January 6, 2005
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Well - I don't have too many details - all I can say is that I used to have the cables out of the box, and now I have this cable. The disparity between the picture quality before and after is flat out ridiculous.

I am viewing DVDs on a relatively small (26" phillips widescreen) TV, and I can only imagine that the difference on a larger TV will be even more pronounced.

This is close to being the best discretionary expenditure I have made in my life.

One word of warning. Make sure that your DVD player is not set to S-Cable output, since the picture will be atrocious (all red and grainy), until you switch it to "component video"

5.0 out of 5 stars This Cable is Excellent in Quality!, August 11, 2005
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I had never used the "component" variety of video cable before in my life, but I read how it surpasses A/V cable (yellow, red, white), composite and S-video connection-types and so I chose component as the way to connect my DVD player/recorder to my new 32" LCD TV.

I bought 2 of these cables.

The cable itself is very thick and comes across as being "very durable"; it is very well made!

Video quality when playing a dvd is awesome; a joy to watch!

Also, it is nice that the "industrial-strength type plastic packaging" has a perforation trail in back that makes opening the package very easy!

This component cable is doing an excellent job!

I recommend this to you!

5.0 out of 5 stars A very good value for a longer high quality cable, October 18, 2004

I bought one of these cables (and several of the 4 foot versions) to hook up a High Definition TV and a Progressive Scan DVD player and I've had no problems.

The quality is great and the price is right. The 8 foot cable was the longest I needed and only because of awkward TV positioning in one room. (If you've got all your video appliancies next to each other you definitely don't need more than a four foot cable.)

Although supposedly it is only a "standard" Monster Cable, I can't believe that you'd see any difference in quality by buying a pricier cable. I would bet the main difference is in durability -the more expensive cable is a little thicker and probably has slightly higher quality components. After all, you have to meet certain quality standards to qualify for THX certification. (That being said I would not purchase any cable below these standards -why would you want to pay for a COMPONENT level cable that did not allow DVDs to be played the way they were optimized for?)

What does THX certification mean? Below is a blurb taken directly from the THX website describing it:

---

"THX is on the forefront of entertainment technology, offering products and services of unparalleled quality for post-production, distribution and playback of audio and visual content. THX Certification is considered a mark of excellence in the presentation technology industry, offering consumers a promise that the cinemas they visit and the products they purchase have been evaluated and tested to meet the highest standards for picture and sound performance."

Overall, a great cable that is twice the length of the Monster THX 4 foot cable but only a little bit more expensive. A great value!
