funny... the review below is exactly my story. we also borrowed this book from the library, and after renewing it I decided we need to own a copy of the book. My son loves to hear this book over and over again, and has memorized the truck's names. Great book for any car and truck fan!!!

True, the title doesn't refer to "Monster Trucks" as in the big, noisy truck rallies. But the trucks in the book are monstrous - as in very large. My son loves cars and trucks of all kinds, and absolutely fell in love with this book. He began to memorize it after only 3 or 4 readings. We had borrowed it from the library, and he misses it so much that I'm buying it today.

I got this for my son when he was about 1 1/2. He loved reading it and we would do so repeatdetly each night. He still loves it more than a year later. I highly recomend it for anyone who is into trucks or vehicles of any kind.

My Grandson loves these books! I was a little disappointed however as while I knew this was a used book, there was not mention that the binding on the book was broken. I had to tape the book up to keep the pages from falling out. Will probably not last very long what with a 3 year old reading it.

Yep, we borrowed this book from the library... twice... and my boys still wanted to read it daily. I decided to purchase it and was happily surprised to find it in board book form (the library version was traditional hard back copy). My sons are 1.5 and 3 years old... great read for toddlers. This book is not about monster trucks in the ESPN sense of the word "monster." Rather, the trucks themselves have monster personalities and physical features! Very fun book!

This is a really fun book. My son loves the illustrations of the various vehicles and I think it's fun to read. The rhyming, alliterative wording rolls right off the tongue. The only reason I didn't give this a full 5 stars is because one page talks about a garbage truck burping. Not a big deal, but for a 3/4 year old, hearing "burping" results in trying to make burping sounds and ridiculous giggles. Not a deal breaker, but something of note. We've had this book for a year and read it several times a week and still, the faux-burping continues. All in all, great for any child who loves trucks!!

We got this book from the library and now that it needs to go back I don't think my son will part with it. We read it 4-5 times a day and then when we aren't reading it he sits alone and pretends to read it. I need to get him his own.

I got this book for my 3 yr old car/truck/semi crazed little boy. We read it night after night. Now whenever we pass by a truck he asks me what is it's name? Not asking if it's a dump truck or not but if it's Chuck the dump truck. It's a very well written book. I took it to his preschool of half autistic half not autistic kids and it kept the whole class entertained. Especially the boys! It's very lyrical and the reading of it flows smoothly.

My son picked this book out at the library on a whim. However, now whenever we have to return it on our next trip we have to go straight to get "the truck book mom". No other truck book will do. and no other books are needed. It is a great book because it is simple and fun without too many details for little ones with limited attention spans. Not for the avid construction truck enthusist but wonderful for the little boy( or girl) who just loves trucks!

If you have a kid who's into trucks, this book will really wow them. The pictures are cartoony and bold, the feel of the text is lively and fun. The only downside is that the rhyming verses don't scan well -- Todd seems to have a hard time getting the meter to flow, and often puts big, work truck-oriented words in in ways that don't really fit. It's clunky and makes the text difficult to read. But it's still a great book... kids will love it! (ReadThatAgain!)
