The Monster Within': Overcoming Eating Disorder,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Monster Within: Overcoming Eating Disorders (Paperback)
I was worried about a friend of mine whom I believe has an eating disorder so I checked out this book. Not only did it help me to better understand her problem but made me realize some of the problems I'm having and gave me the courage to get help. This is a wonderful book.

Cynthia's book offered hope when there was none. Her answers were real and offered a role model for me to heal. When I first picked up the book I prayed, "Lord, if I had a therapist just like that I could heal." He answered my prayer not the way I expected, but never dreamed he would for me. In the years to come, God willing look for Not Alone, my outpatient journey of recovery from Anorexia and Bulimia with the help of life coach Mike Moore while still somehow driving down the road of life. His fierce committment and willingness to dialogue through the impasses, plus sense of humor and humility changed my life. Cynthia's book has real answers and is an example of what real help looks like. God doesn't have favorites. Believe and seek him with your whole heart and He will make a way for you to begin to live in the "freedom available to us as adults with all it's adult responsiblities," (MM).
Blessings, Crystal Thompson

You are not alone, and help is out there for everyone,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Monster Within: Overcoming Eating Disorders (Paperback)
I am so thankful that Cynthia helped me out with my eating disorder. Not only did she support me in getting the help I needed. She took my kids into her home a complete stranger that I was, and gave them some precious memories which they talk about still occassionally. My kids have pictures of the McClures and there dog in their rooms. Cynthia gave me a chance that no one else would give me. She took me under her care and provided all tools that I needed to get into my issues and get on with my life. My family and I are now a real family. WE have learned to deal with the everyday struggles and allow God to take care of us thru our journey in life. Our kids are growing up to be fine young Christian kids and have stated many times the they thank Cynthia and David for giving their mom back to them. My husband and I have a marriage which centers around each other and God. This book opened a door for me to see that I was not alone and that all things are possible thru God and his children. This illness is a tough one to overcome alone. But with support like the McClures and her folks, and loving family members, "all things come together for those who LOVE The LORD". Rom. Thanks Cynthia, David McClure, Bob & Joy Roland for all you did for me. I am now a Chief Probation Officer in Ga. I have gotten my life together and continue to grow each day. I pray for Cynthia and her family and know that she is out helping others. Cassie A. Cole
