From the Manufacturer
Using advanced performance speaker cable is an investment that pays off. Featuring a large copper conductor surface area and XLN® noise rejection construction, Monster Standard Speaker Cables deliver the power your speakers need for music, movie and video game audio with increased claritydown to the last detail. SingleHelix construction tightly twists conductors to eliminate electromagnetic noise, and patented Magnetic Flux Tube® technology breaks up internal magnetic fields for less distortion. Youll experience sound quality more powerful than ever as the bass comes alive and the midrange becomes crystal clear.

This speaker wire is by no means cutting edge, but it does have useful trickle down features that make it a high value solution. Much better than "zip" wire (twin conductor like lamp wire- the original speaker wire), the positive and negative leads are individually insulated, helix twisted, then encased in a clear PVC jacket. This results in an overall cable diameter of about 1/4-inch. The PVC outer jacket is smooth, making it easy to route and pull through the vehicle; I performed a full custom rewire of a medium sized SUV and had no difficulty in this area. The only downside to the outer jacket (and the reason I gave four stars) is that it has to be slit and trimmed back to expose the two inner conductors. This is a minor inconvenience compared to all the benefits the outer jacket provides (ease of install and additional protection), but you do have to be careful not to cut through the insulation of the inner wire or your finger (I slipped once and got my thumb pretty good- I found a good pair of cut-resistant gloves for day two of my install and will never work again without them!). As it turns out, I never did cut the inner jackets by mistake; I would say it is just as easy to make a bad cut on cheaper zip line.Read more ›
My only complaint is the overall diameter, makes it hard to run this cable beneath a flush panel. But it was of no concern for me, I just re-routed everything and cleaned it up nicer. I'll definitely use this again in either a home install, or even a vehicle install. 50 feet goes a long way unless you're running long lengths of cable from a 4-channel amp.
I actually used this on my subwoofer as well, just ran both strands together, and ran two lenghts of cable. I marked each one with black and red heat-shrink tube to mark which one is which. Looks nice. matches everything else coming out of my amplifiers, is strong, appealing, and I will never worry about cutting or wearing through.
- True 16 gauge wires
- Color coded wires make it easy to tell positive from negative
- Outer sheath offers some additonal protection and helps when installing
- Twisted strands help prevent crosstalk
- This is not copper wire, it is aluminum. At $15 for 50 feet, that makes sense, but if you are looking for copper, look elsewhere
- The outer sheathing is difficult to strip without severing through to the inner wire. I tried a wide variety of wire stripping/cutting tools, and none of them worked well. The sheath is not perfectly round, so even ethernet-type cutters will either cut too deep on the wide sides, or not go through on the narrow sides. Slitting between the inner wires is difficult too, as they are twisted. Each end terminated took 2-3 tries to get the outer sheath off without screwing up the inner cable.
All in all, the sound quality seems decent enough. I don't know how much better it's going to get if I went to all OFC instead.

I love Monster products. I used this to run wire to new speakers in all 4 doors of my 2008 GMC Sierra back to an Alpine amp under the back seat. Read morePublished on October 16, 2013 by CHARLES F LUEDEMANN
My fault I ordered this when I needed a bigger gauge. Still 50ft for $18 can't complain with that. Too bad I have no use for it.Published on October 11, 2013 by Steve-O
good wire, and inexpensive. Its hard to find specs on Monster Cable wires, but from what I understand they do not make ANY copper cladded aluminum (CCA) products, so this wire... Read morePublished on August 9, 2013 by CheapArseAudiophile
