Great Till Cigaratte Lighter Part Quit Altogether,
By
This review is from: Monster iCar Play iPod FM Transmitter/Charger - AIPFM-CH250 (Electronics)
[please read below for conclusion] I purchased this product and after almost exactly six months it stopped working. The part of it that goes into the cigarette lighter no longer works. When I insert it, the Monster logo does not light up indicating that power isn't getting from the cigarette lighter to the adapter. I tested my cigarette lighter by plugging my other phone adapter into it, and that works fine. I used this almost every day on my way to work. Every time I got out of my car I took it out of the cigarette lighter and hid everything under my car seat so no one was tempted to break in and steal it. I'm guessing that constantly taking it in and out wore it out. Until now it was a nearly perfect device and met all of my needs. In my 30 mile drive to work one way I never had to change the station. Even driving 60 miles into NYC there was little problem. Although I had to tolerate a little bit of interference once in the city, it was mostly manageable. I am very disappointed that the adapter quit working after only six months. Even with heavy use it should have lasted longer than six months. I've owned my phone charger for four years and it still works. If you use it like I did make sure you buy it from an authorized dealer (Amazon is one), and keep your receipt since without your receipt the warranty is only good for 3 months from when it leaves the factory.
6/10/09--as a follow up, Monster replaced my product (since I did have the receipt and it was under a year warranty) with a comparable one. I called the warranty dept. and told them it wasn't working. Without asking any specific questions except when I purchased it they told me to send it in and they'd replace it. They didn't even ask for a receipt but I sent mine anyway. I received the new product exactly 21 days from when I sent mine to them.

This works great. Have enjoyed having it. These transmitters are still not 100% perfect. I have to change the frequency 3-4 during my 70 mile drive. But overall, this new one works better than most and an upgrade to the cheaper ones I purchased in the past.

I had been using an older version of the Monster iCarplay for a long time with my 1st gen iPhone and it worked AWESOME! It would quiet down all the static and play my music uninterrupted. But since I got an iPhone 3GS, I had to upgrade...
This is the 3rd FM transmitter/Charger that I've gone through so far .. and this one disappoints just like the others. I live in L.A. and i commute about 25 miles to get to work and just to get there I have to fiddle with this thing for almost my whole 30 minute commute, just to find a station where I can play 1 SONG uninterrupted by giant surges of static. Frequently it will be so bad that in the middle of listening to my music, it will just sounds like a giant wave of static is taking over my car, until it loses the station completely to some other station or just pure annoying, loud static. So I press the SCAN button, resorting to the device to find me a clear station where I can listen to my music... but NO, this damn thing barely ever finds an actual good station to tune in to! It'll get me stations that area already taken up by local stations, so that's a complete failure as well. It says that it works with iPhone, but it doesn't, I don't know about iPods, but this just doesn't work in so many different ways. Too bad, so sad, I'm returning this product tomorrow .. for such a high price it's just a slap in the face to find out how bad this thing works while you're still trying to get over the fact that you spent as much money as it would cost to buy a whole new iPhone.. Don't waste your time, money or nerves on this .. it had me furiously angry today and almost crashing, just trying to make it work. It's a total scam.

I am very disappointed with this product; it is the worst I have ever tried.
I need to reset the channel every 1/4 mile or so. Funny thing is I reset the same channel and it starts to work again. This was a total waste of money and time. May I advise to anybody looking at this product: look for a different product as this one does not work as advertised. I rate this item a zero star, if that is possible.
