5.0 out of 5 stars Thumbs Up!
I received this product as a gift from my husband and at first I was skeptical because of a few bad reviews I read. I had been wanting a FM transmitter for my iPhone, mainly to use with Pandora. To my amazement, it was really easy to use and it worked just fine with Pandora. The only time it cuts out is when a call comes in. The sound quality is actually pretty good and...

1.0 out of 5 stars more static than music
The transmission is terrible, you can barely hear the music over the static. The scanning function doesn't even pick the best of the static stations, when you are lucky it is only .1 or .2 off from a decent station, but about half the time there is no transmission at all. Also the dial, which initially looks fancy and fun, is very awkward to manipulate while driving. So...

1.0 out of 5 stars more static than music, July 2, 2009
This review is from: Monster iCarPlay Wireless 800 FM Transmitter for iPod and iPhone (Electronics)
So essentially this is a very expensive ipod charger for when you are on the go.

1.0 out of 5 stars returned it the next day, July 31, 2009
This review is from: Monster iCarPlay Wireless 800 FM Transmitter for iPod and iPhone (Electronics)
I've had a monster fm transmitter for over a year. I loved it. I broke it by setting a heavy object on it. I thought I would try this newer version. What a mistake. I couldn't get it to play without static, even setting it to the station my other one had been on. I tried their auto scan feature, it kept choose a station that was playing country music. I could not get a clear station. I'll go back to the older version which I know works Monster iCarPlay Wireless FM Transmitter with Auto-Scan for iPod and it is quite a bit less expensive.

1.0 out of 5 stars Sound quality is horrible, February 7, 2010

While I can hear the music from my iPod there is constantly fuzziness and interference. I use a different plug in device for my XM radio FM reception and don't get any interference. With the cable it doesn't matter what channel I'm tuned to there is intereference. Sorry, but I can't recommend that anyone buy this product.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't buy, January 13, 2011
This review is from: Monster iCarPlay Wireless 800 FM Transmitter for iPod and iPhone (Electronics)
Quite frankly, it sucks. Doesn't fit phone correctly, constantly falls out of port. When it does stay in for a few seconds the static is horrible. Taking it back pronto.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thumbs Up!, December 25, 2009
This review is from: Monster iCarPlay Wireless 800 FM Transmitter for iPod and iPhone (Electronics)
The sound quality is actually pretty good and more importantly, very little static. No joke. I've used an iTrip before with my iPod and sound quality does not compare. I would say the only thing that isn't so great is that when a call comes in, it doesn't pause and resume where it left off. You'll have to re-launch Pandora which kinda sicks, but this minor detail is really no big deal. I'm just happy I can listen to Pandora with very little static. I've had this for a while with no problems, but if anything changes I will make sure to post it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Avoid This Transmitter!!, June 4, 2011
This review is from: Monster iCarPlay Wireless 800 FM Transmitter for iPod and iPhone (Electronics)
I purchased this transmitter little over an hour ago, and I can already tell it's not going to work well. IF you are going to buy one (which I would not recommend), purchase it on Amazon - I just paid $60 for this piece of junk at Target, only to find out it is $19.99 here on Amazon.

This model supposedly blocks cell phone interference, but if you hold any electrical device or put the transmitter too close to your car radio, there is 100% static. I had to hold the transmitter and my ipod up in the air nearly to the roof of the truck before I could get a clear sound. The "scan" option finds any random station (usually one that already exists, and therefore can't play music from your ipod. The only way to find an empty channel is to manually do it. The advertised features do not work.

I bought a similar off brand device from Ross for $5.99 several months back, and it works 10 times better than this Monster 800 FM transmitter. I would definitely suggest a different transmitter, but like I said, don't pay retail when you can get it on Amazon for waaaaaaaaay less.

2.0 out of 5 stars A lot to be desired, February 13, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

Was really excited about purchasing this product. Aesthetically it looks great. It is really easy to use. However it does its job poorly in a city setting. Seems like its broadcasting power is really low, which translates to being very susceptible to interference. And well for a radio transmitter, interference basically kills its functionality.

1.0 out of 5 stars A Monster Rarity -- This is Really Bad., April 1, 2010
This review is from: Monster iCarPlay Wireless 800 FM Transmitter for iPod and iPhone (Electronics)
Terrible x-mit quality; very clumsy to use. The scan is suppose to narrow in on the best channel for the best reception. It did not. I scanned on my own, by hand, and found a mostly static station (meaning a weak signal for this device to overcome) and tuned the device to that freq. The transmission was barely audible over the intense static. I kept trying throughout my 3-hour roundtrip journey; I gave it every chance to be liked but returned it, pronto.

Obviously, don't buy this one. A better one (and by Monster too) is this one, although appearently obsolete and hard to find now:

If you can't find it, one that is just "Ok" is here (I wrote a review of it also):

1.0 out of 5 stars Disgrace to brand, June 19, 2011
This review is from: Monster iCarPlay Wireless 800 FM Transmitter for iPod and iPhone (Electronics)
I was looking for a car charger and FM transmitter and figured I couldn't go wrong with Monster, but I was terribly disappointed. This product flat out doesn't work. The autoscan feature is awful. It often finds a crystal clear station with strong signal. When it's manually programmed to an empty frequency, the transmission is so weak the music is barely audible through the static. Please don't waste your money on this product.

I do not like it. It does not work well. Too much noise. And the charge is hard to connect iphone if you have a case.
