Very enjoyable movie, especially for older kids and adults. I expected to see the movie in 3D and was greatly disappointed to find that only to B.O.B. Extras in 3D. Particularly since all of the other Extras materials couldn't stop gushing about HP & Intel. I have Spy Kids 3D on DVD and it was a very successful home view presentation.

I actually bought the Blu-ray version on the single disc, and in my opinion the packaging puts lots of emphasis on 3D glasses and no indication that they're useless for the Feature Film, or that the Feature is in 2D only. I could not find it addressed anywhere on the packaging, at least in a font size I can read.

If you're a techie like most of my family, wait for someone at Disney or Dreamworks to wise up and offer the 3D version. AND they better offer a decent discount for those of us that already bought the ho-hum version!

The movie is very nice, actually better than i believed, but it is promoted as a regular and 3D version two pack with 3D glasses. The real thing is that ONLY ONE of the both Dvd's is 3D and it's ( Bob's big break ) a short of 10 or 15 minutes!!, the main movie it's not 3D version only regular version and as i just said, the movie it's great but not 3D as at first impression they make you think it is

I am confused, Coraline worked well at home in 3D, why wouldn't Aliens vs Monsters work just as well?
I too was bummed out , thinking that the movie came on blu-ray in 3D , the short was in 3D and worked just fine.
I agree with the person that is looking for a deep discount to those of us that shelled out retail bucks , thinking they were getting the 3D version of the movie, and not just the short.
I thought that Blu-ray was one of the main reasons the industry adopted this standard ...immense capacity.

Monsters vs Aliens is fun, itself. I enjoyed watching it, and my son enjoys watching it. Bob's Big Break was very cute and we'll watch it again, no problem. My only complaint is the user interface on the Bob's Big Break DVD, it's very clunky. We haven't watched it in 3D yet, because I'm the only one in the house with proper stereo vision without colorblindness. Having the option to not have it in 3D is very nice.

I know when I like a movie because I find myself going to the extra material afterwards. In Monsters Vs Aliens (MvA) three good deleted scenes in rough format that gives some insight on the processes that develop over the course of refining the story and the graphics. In the segment of Modern Monster Movie Making there is a sandwich of glowing hyperbole about InTru 3D and how it will be a similar transition when movies went from Black & White to Color. Then a great middle "meaty" part where we get to see the actors that are actually doing the voices. I could have used a lot more of that. Loved Colbert as the president, Bertie Wooster (aka House) as the Cockroach and not to slight any of them they were all great. Then a final recap of how wonderful the 3D is going to be. "when you talk about 3D the movie experience for prople is going to be forever changed."

I dinged this movie for the segment of the Tech Aspect of MVA. I will let their own quotes tell the story:
"A spectacular opportunity to make the emotions of storytelling even better'. (Since this is NOT coming out in InTru 3D I would say an "opportunity" missed!) "Out of this world effects" "The highest end of what's possible in stereo filmmaking" Yada, Yada, Yada. I could go on and on here but one final quote: "The movie experience for people is going to be forever changed"(see above) Only its not because for reasons unknown the InTru 3D was NOT released.

My point in all of this is that if you are not going to produce the 3D movie then why put it in the extras in the first place? Is this some evil Alien Plot to frusterate the movie public? Finally, we are told "this is not your dad's 3D". So why is the bundled extra "Bobs Big Break" in the 1950s era Red and Blue (more correctly green) glasses? Is dreamworks laughing at us? I mean you need TWO eyes to appreciate 3D. How many eye do Bob have?? For crying out loud!!!

Theater version review:

Saw this with my 11 year old son, five year old daughter, and my husband, who, like me, is 40. We all enjoyed it a lot. My son, who has a great sense of humor, thought it was one of the funniest movies he has seen, and the story was good. There aren't many kids' movies that I look forward to seeing again (besides most all of the Pixar films among a few others) but I'm planning to buy this asap.

50% off $40 blu ray?
Maybe because the version you are looking at is the one with all the extras, including the Bob 3D disc, The Blu-ray copy and a DVD?
