This review is from: Monsters of the Northwoods (Paperback)
Monsters of the Northwoods is a comprehensive examination of activity in New York State and portions of Vermont. The main focus is Whitehall, NY, where the author(s) are from. The book does of great job of presenting reports and evidence. It includes a photo section with illustrations based on witness descriptions and photos of footprint finds.
Aside from a short jaunt into UFO territory, where the authors propose a connection between UFOs and Bigfoot based on coincidental sightings, the book is a good reference and documentation of Bigfoot sightings and accounts. The book also offers an examination of Native American legend about large hominids in the New York area. In all the book documents over 140 cases, extending from the Watertown area to Long Island, and areas of western Vermont. Monsters of the Northwoods makes a solid case supporting the possible existence of the creatures known as Bigfoot.

Short but terrific!!!!!!,
This review is from: Monsters of the Northwoods (Paperback)
This short but terrific book describes a plethora of Sasquatch sightings in the New York and Vermont area, which seem to mainly center around the WHitehall, New York area, where several police officers had sightings in the Abair Road area, including Brian Gosselin and his brother Paul (Paul was not a police officer, by the way), as well as other witnesses who have seen bipedal creatures as well as found tracks and heard strange vocalizations. A town called Kinderhook, New York, is also a center of activity, where co-author Bruce Hallenbeck had several strange encounters around an area called Cushing's Hill, along with members of his family. The UFO angle is also examined in connection to sightings, as are sightings in neighboring state Vermont. The long history of sightings going back to the 1600's is also examined. I highly recommend this book, which I have owned for many years, which is signed by William Brann. 5 out of 5 stars.

I bought this book after I saw the History channels show, Monsterquest-NY bigfoot.
Prior to watching this show I had no idea that big foot existed in NY. It was the furthest thing from my mind. This book is great, lots of bigfoot stories and the emphasis is on sightings in NY with some in Vermont as well. I'm a NY'er so I like this book even more. I spent many a vacation on Lake George and I know the Whitehall area so this strikes home for me. After reading this book I'll be a little more scared when I go into the woods in the Adirondacks and Catskills to hunt. I go into the woods before dawn to get to my hunting spot and usually I'm a little nervous being in the woods by myself ( even with a gun ) because you don't know who's in the woods with you and now that I know about bigfoot it'll be downright terrifying ! I tend to disbelieve alot of these monster stories, like the NJ devil, but when you have numerous Police officers /State troopers reporting they saw a large creature 7-8 foot tall it makes you wonder . Could it be a bear that learned how to walk upright ? That area, the foothills of the Adirondacks has alot of bears as does the state. NY has the largest black bear population in the east. Its not surprising to me that if there was a big foot it would be in NY too. Alot of people in this country think NY is urban because of NYC, but NY is predominantly a rural state. 75 percent of the population of NY lives within 40 miles of NYC and the rest is a huge wilderness. the 6 million acre Adirondack park and 500,000 acre Catskill park is the equivalant of 7 Rhode Islands and the Adirondacks is 4 times bigger then Yellowstone park . Come visit the Adirondacks if you get a chance and you'll see have big and magnificant it is. And its not just in these parks, NY is 62 percent forested and about 30 percent farm and then NYC and Long Island. I highly reccomend this book, very good stories and well laid out. These authors published another book, Big foot encounters in NY and New Englsnd which I plan on buying too.

Entertainment,
This review is from: Monsters of the Northwoods (Paperback)
This book was on the shelf in a friend of mines cabin in the Adirondak mountains. My 11 year old son started reading it while we were there but we left before he could finish it. He asked me to buy it for him once we returned to PA so he could finish it. He says it "creeped" him out a few nights after reading it. He rated it a four stars.
