About the Author

Jonathan Emmett is a bestselling author and paper engineer and the creator of many successful books for Macmillan including RUBY FLEW TOO! (978-1-4050-9026-1) and EMERGENCY RESCUE! (978-0-230-52875-8). He won the Red House Children's Book Award in 2006 and was shortlisted for the Richard and Judy book awards in 2007. MONSTERS: AN OWNER'S GUIDE is the result of Jonathan and Mark's shared passion for scary creatures and self assembly kits! Mark Oliver worked in advertising as an Art Director before becoming a full-time illustrator in 1991. He has worked in film and TV illustration and advertising design and packaging. Mark has also illustrated books and covers for all ages, including ROBOT DOG (Little Tiger Press) which won the Stockport Children's Book Award in 2006. Mark lives and works in Brighton and has a son, a daughter and a dog called Monty.

Jonathan was born in Leicestershire in 1965, the son of a rig fitter and a primary school teacher.
In addition to writing picture books such as "Bringing Down the Moon", "Someone Bigger" and "Ruby, in Her Own Time", Jonathan also paper-engineers pop-up books. His books have won several awards including the Red House Children's Book Award for "Pigs Might Fly" and the Kiekeboekprijs for "Bringing Down the Moon".
He lives in Nottingham with his wife, Rachel, and his children, Max and Laura.
