Volume 1 is for the Metal Heads!,

Volume 2 of Monsters of Rock is more for the people who like not so much metal and more regularly played 80's songs. The CD is great, I bought it, but Volume 1 contains the real metal bands like Alice Cooper, Whitesnake, and Poison!

Ya just don't know what a letdown this is after Vol. 1. Some of the songs on here aren't even rock. The second half gets a lot better, but it still is a real letdown after the glorious metal on the first and third volumes. Asia is not metal. They are hardly rock. I don't understand what they are doing here. The songs by Danger Danger and Enuff Z'Nuff are great and so is Aldo Nova's bone-crunching Fantasy, but some of the stuff on here is for pop fans. No I'm not kiddin'.

Searching on Internet I found what I like most. 80's hard rock, recently I began collecting a number of songs of that time, i have gotten so far music of LA Gns, The Outfield, etc.. I couldn't believe that I had them. When listening them, ny thoughts travel back in the time...To be honest the best music ever created was this...it can easily beat that modern pop music....

A great followup to the origonal.
I am person who has likes multiple music geners of the 80s, hair bands as much as the pop\dance genres. I truely enjoyed this CD, maybe a bit more then the first. IT is less hard edged of the Hair band genre like others mentioned, but still worth the $.

Great album. Brings back the lightness of 80's rock and roll before grunge rock.

Some old favorites - plus some one hit wonders,

I enjoy this CD very much. It has many hitsthat I haven't heard in a long time. Someof the songs belong more on a pop and balladcollection than on a rock collection, but I still enjoyed them. Just one low point thatI've noticed so far: Most of the prelude onAldo Nova's Fantasy was cut out.

As with some other reviewers, I see inconsistency with this "Monsters" series of CD's. Personally, I like some of the softer songs on this disk and that's why I bought it (heat of the moment, died in your arms). I really like 'the warrior' as well, and I think most would categorize that one as a hard rock song. When you take a hard look at this series of "Monster" CD's you gotta wonder what "Monster" even refers to. Is it the sales volume? the hard rock sound? what? What makes something "monster" rock? It really seems that they just put their favorites on some CD's and labeled them "monster" because it sounds cool! The problem is that there is no real theme here, particularly with volume 2.

Cheesy with a capital "C",

Back in the late '80s when good music was starting to become endangered, radio was polluted with either teen pop or hair metal. I unfortunately fell victim to hair metal but it sure beats the New Kids on the Block any day. The music was so unbelievably cheesy, and the music videos even more so. I bought "Monsters of Rock, vol. 2" a few years ago because I was feeling nostalgic for those good ol' days. Most of the songs on the cd I love, cheesy but I still love them. As silly as the lyrics are, I still find myself enjoying White Lion's "When the Children Cry". Hearing a hair metal band sing about child abuse is like listening to Kathie Lee Gifford talk about other people than her family, in other words a foreign concept. I also still adore Scandal's "The Warrior". Patty Smythe always did have quite a killer voice like Pat Benatar. Although I always have and always will despise Nelson, I can't help but enjoy "(Can't Live Without Your)Love and Affection". It is a major guilty pleasure of mine. Ditto with songs by Danger Danger, Enuff Z'Nuff, Vixen, and The Outfield (one of my personal favorite '80s songs). Unfortunately I could have easily lived without "Love of A Lifetime" by Firehouse, the cheesiest hair metal ballad of all time. Can't stand Yes's "Owner of a Lonely Heart" or songs by Britny Fox and Aldo Nova. "Monsters of Rock, vol.2" is a nice reminder of my yesteryear. I almost miss the hair metal scene compared to what is being passed off as rock music today.
