Roman Dirge takes you into the deepest pilliars of his extraordinary imagination, to bring you monsters in my tummy, an amazing journey and different take on the emotional system of your average human. Brought to you with incredible art, and a sharp, funny, macabre style, Monsters in my tummy will definately satisfy your hunger for the odd, bizarre, and astounding.

A strange little "childrens book" style story,
By A Customer
This review is from: Monsters in my Tummy (Paperback)
This is an excellent, although very short, book. It has the feel of a demented Shel Silverstein or Dr. Seuss book. A childrens story with a dark humor that is very adult. If you are a fan of the Gothic humor of Roman Dirge or Jhonen Vasquez or others like them, give this book a try. While it may seem a little expensive for something that only lasts a few minutes, you'll never forget it.There's nothing else out there quite like this.

I knew monsters existed!,
By Demetria (Seattle, WA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Monsters in my Tummy (Paperback)
For anyone who might want to blame their emotions on someone/thing else...look no further. The Monsters in this story are so morbid, but you can't help but want to squeeze them and love them. I remember one of intestinal organs saying, "Pooka, Pooka" and that really doesn't do it justice until you actually take a look at the visual element itself. I don't think Dirge actually meant for this to be a literary phenomena and it isn't, but what it is, is a candid, yet quaint protrayal of personified organs. I would recommend looking at this even if you aren't interested you will become interested because it will trap you in its glory. The illustrations are beyond cool. Personally, I loved it, but then I'm not a hard-core critic. If it's good...it is good and that's just the way of it.

great book,
This review is from: Monsters in my Tummy (Paperback)
I love this book. It was a wonderful combination of children's book layout with a dark plot. As a collector of this genre of book, I was always pleased with the writing styles of Slave Labor Graphic artists. Roman Drige creates exactly what I look for in "The Monsters in My Tummy". I was happy to add it my collection of books. The book's imagery explaining the creation of emotions in the body is a magnificent read!

This story is very short, but very fun. It is not meant to be long and engaging but short and entertaining with great illustrations. I own quite a collection of short stories like this and every time my fiancee or I are sick we pile them on the bed and read them to each other; this one is always on the top of my pile.

A Clever Book,

The first time I came upon this book I was 16 and it was on clearance in Hot Topic for $5. I picked it up and began to read, instantly falling in love. It is written as a children's book, but it is about a broken heart spun from an adult relationship. Since purchasing that book 8 years ago I lost it and now finally re-bought it. If you are looking for a children's book with a dark twist that can be enjoyed by all ages, this is it!

Story was really short, lacking a lot of content. The illustrations were interesting but the actual story was lacking, in my opinion. So far I have only enjoyed Lenore by Dirge and have not been a big fan of his other works.

While I am a huge Roman Dirge fan, I didn't find this book to be all that great. Sure, it was somewhat good, but I have come to have high standards for Roman. I think anyone could relate to the character, but half of the story was kind of pointless.

Definatly read this book!,
This review is from: Monsters in my Tummy (Paperback)
Roman with his poems and imagery shows us something most of us wish we could do everyday. Being a complete Dirge fan I of course had to buy this! When I was done I couldn't help but go 'aww' cause it was like reading something you knew had to have come from experience wanting to go through with this.
