Keep this handy, though maybe not in your coat pocket.,

This is a great book for surgical rotations and internships. It's well written and succinct. Overall, I like the size of it because it's easy to thumb through and find what you need, but it's a little bigger than what I would like to carry in my pocket.

I'm a PA student and am doing my surgery rotation with 3rd year medical students. This book has helped me outshine the med students on numerous occasions. It contains mostly pre and post-op information, not necessarily information about the operations themselves, but things the preceptor will ask. Clinical Features, Causes, Complications, Evaluation, Treatment Options and even a few pictures. It's a succinct basic guide although "pocket size" is kind of a stretch.
Not 5 stars because there aren't a lot of pictures, but that's just my preference.

Great for quick look ups before being pimped, but very thick if you want to carry it in your pocket (gets heavy). I wouldn't use it as a primary study source for Boards, but it's great for wards.

I love this book! It has everything that a medical/PA student would need for rotations in a simple but compact format. Concise and to the point with all of the important facts you need to know, whether you are a medical/PA student or out working in the real world. Small enough to fit in your pocket. This is the book that I am recommending to any medical students that I work with. Great book!
