More About the Author

When it comes to creativity, Ednor Therriault is a moving target. Ask him what he does for a living, and his response will likely be, "Today, I'm a graphic designer." Or a writer. Or a musician, songwriter, sign painter, or blogger.

This modern-day renaissance man spends his days looking for ways to entertain, provoke, and otherwise engage his fellow Missoulians, and most of his work has a humorous edge to it. After living all over the U.S. before bouncing around the Pacific Northwest for 15 years, he settled in Missoula in 1993. It was a perfect fit. Ednor's Montana roots run deep; his great-grandparents homesteaded in Western Montana in the late 1800's.

Within six months of arriving in Western Montana's creative hub, Ednor was playing in a band and had met the woman he would eventually marry. Two years later he formed the legendary country rock band, Bob Wire and the Fencemenders. For nine years these hardcore honky tonkers delighted audiences around the region with their wild stage show and energetic treatment of country classics and foot-stomping originals. They were voted Best Local Band twice by the Missoula Independent, and their fans are legion.

In 2004 Ednor dissolved the band and resurfaced two years later with a new outfit, the Magnificent Bastards. Playing and recording mostly his own material, Ednor has released three CDs with the Bastards, and a fourth is in the works.

Meantime, his "day job" running a graphic design business keeps him busy. He's created logos and displays for several Missoula businesses, and has a loyal client base that depends on his creativity and professionalism.

Writing is his main endeavor these days, and his first book, "Montana Curiosities," was released in June 2010 on Globe Pequot Press. He also writes a popular humor column for NewWest.net, "Bob Wire Has a Point (It's Under His Cowboy Hat)." His music-related writing occasionally appears in the Missoula Independent, the Missoulian, and other local publications. Ednor is currently working on his first novel, a rock and roll crime story.

Ednor lives with his wife Shannon and their two middle schoolers, Hudson and Sophia.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love it, February 10, 2012

This review is from: Montana Curiosities: Quirky Characters, Roadside Oddities & Other Offbeat Stuff (Curiosities Series) (Paperback)
Love this book. It is very interesting and has items from all over the State. It is a little limited on coverage east of Billings...most people think that Montana ends east of Billings. However, having lived out in that part of the State for a while I was even aware of many more interesting items than the author seemed to cover. However, that is a minor detail and doesn't detract from my star rating. It was enjoyable to read and definently added some items to my family's plans for the next time we are travelling through Montana. If you are going through Montana this is a great book to keep in your glove box as a reference and to help you stretch your legs by stopping by some of these places. If you are from Montana and have travelled around very much you will recognize a lot of these sites.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book for a trip with kids!, September 8, 2010
This review is from: Montana Curiosities: Quirky Characters, Roadside Oddities & Other Offbeat Stuff (Curiosities Series) (Paperback)
Adults want to see the typical sights found in guidebooks, many of which bore a kid to tears and thereby make a family vacation as pleasant as dental work. The sights in this book are entirely different, and adding a sprinkling of the attractions found in "Montana Curiosities" to a trip could make the difference between boring and bearable for children or teens.

What would a kid rather visit, statuary in the State Capitol or working player pianos in Nevada City's Music Hall? A picturesque waterfall or Barstool Races? You get the picture.

If you're visiting Montana with youngsters (or maybe even without), do yourself a favor and bring along this book. Even if you visit only one or two of the Curiosities, the kids will enjoy Ednor Theirrault's entertaining descriptions of the available oddities. And a good time will be had by all.
