This is an absolutely beautiful book. It wasn't exactly what I wanted; this was a birthday present for my husband, born and raised here in Montana, a hunter and fisherman familiar with most but not all prairie flowers and other plants. I was looking for more precise identifications of the thousands of the native flowers, weeds, trees, bushes. On the other hand, the photography was so incredible that I fell in love with it, and my husband was pleased with it, as it records the beautiful vistas he has always loved. So if you want a list of scientific names and detailed drawings, this probably isn't it -- but if you want to enjoy a glimpse of the mountains and prairies of Montana, this book is perfect for you.

This book has beautiful photographs, and helped me get introduced to Montana wildflowers as a newcomer to the state. I also sent a copy to my mom who is in a nursing home. She's studied wildflowers her entire life and enjoyed flowers she'd never seen.

What is special about this book is the quality of the photographs and the insightful captions that explain some ecological nuances of the flowers.
Ms. Blank's photographs are wonderfully composed, executed and reproduced. I really enjoy perusing this book. I only wish there was more of it!
