I've had this Montblanc 144 fountain pen for while. It writes very smoothly, and the lightweight Precious Resin body makes it light as a feather. This is for smaller hands or someone who prefers a slimmer pen. if you have large hands I suggest the bigger 146, which is a piston filler and can also carry more ink.

Montblanc discontinued the 144, and replaced it with the 145 Chopin, which is similar except the 145 has a screw on cap, while the 144 is a snap on cap.
Anywho, The nib is what makes the pen stand out. I have owned many pens, Sailor, Cross, Parker, Pelikan, you name it, but the Montblanc's buttery action makes it desirable for writing in long periods of time. Heavy pens, like my Cross Townsend, start cramping my hand after a long period of use. I use this Montblanc exclusively for writing all day.
Just be gentle with it and try not to drop it. The precious resin is very sensitive and is prone to crack easily.
A new cap and barrel can cost an arm and a leg to replace. I dropped mine and fortunately the only cracked part was a barrel cover, which was replaced.
I have seen horror photos of dropped Montblancs that struck face flat into concrete. I suggest you keep it in your inner coat pocket instead of your shirt pocket.

Keep in mind, Montblanc sued large chain office retailers in the 90s for selling "altered" Montblanc pens that had the "Pix" logo removed under the clip and on the ring.
Office supply stores removed the Pix stamp to avoid breaking trading laws and Montblanc considered these pens sold by large chain retailers "gray market".
Many people have one of these "lawsuit" pens and Montblanc won't service them at a reasonable price. But, MB only started putting Pix stamps in 1997, so pens made before then doesn't have those markings.

The ink has been an issue. Doesn't flow freely and I find I have to stop and adjust the ink cartridge. Other than that it is a beautiful pen.

First it would not write. Now it leaks.
Have had many other Montblancs in the past. This one is not up to expectations. Gone to Cartier.
