I discovered Sluggo about 8 years ago, when I purchased a 15 pound bag online. It cost me a little over $70.00, and it was worth every penny ! I just now had to reorder, and ordered this 2.5 pound shaker canister. I also have dogs, and, it is completely safe. I can't say this loud enough, I HATE SLUGS ! They are so gross ! Anyway, we really enjoy our yard, and the slugs made it just yucky. Well, sprinkle a little sluggo around, just before it rains (and, just before dark, so birds don't eat it... they think it's food, although, it doesn't seems to hurt them, but, you don't want to lose your Sluggo...lol), and, wait a few weeks later, and do it again... that's all you have to do ! We can go months and months and not see a slug ! When we do, we know it's time to sprinkle a little more around. Now we just have to treat the edges of our yard to keep slugs from coming in from other yards. Our yard is basically slug free. Sluggo really works.

Very effective product and safe when pets and small children are around. I have over 60 varieties of hosta (107 plants) and this product has effectively protected them for the past three years.

This is a product that I can recommend with confidence. I had tried a variety of products and gadgets to solve my slug problem to no avail The beer pans was expensive, wasteful, messy and ineffective. Other snail killers were dangerous to use around my dog. I was so tired of the slugs destroying my daylilies and hostas, that I overcame my revulsion and would pick them off my hand at night. I quickly discovered that sleep would be a thing of the past if I expected to defeat the little blighters. But then I found Sluggo and my problem was solved. Apparently the slugs love this product, eat it, then can't eat anymore, and quickly die of starvation. Best of all, it's safe to use around pets and children. Now the blooms of my daylilies are bite free and the foliage of my hostas are beautiful. Thank you Sluggo!!

Only reason I'm giving it three instead of five stars is that this really isn't anything like a permanent solution, the way maybe diatomaceous earth would be (by comparison). That docks it one star. It loses one more star from me because while it says "for organic gardening" this product is actually not on the list of products approved for the "organic" label. I don't think it should be marketed that way if it isn't actually organic (okay it is made from organic compounds, but this really is a chemical that you might not want to eat). It is a relatively new product, and many people who know more than I feel it is fine to use, and will be approved for organic farmers soon. That's the only reason it didn't lose more stars for this questionable marketing language.

I did go ahead and use it, and it really did reduce if not eliminate the snail population in my garden pretty much overnight. I had a huge problem this season...really running rampant and brutalizing especially eggplant and pepper plants. This stopped that right away, and then once all the pellets had dissolved after a day or two, I sprinkle in some diatomaceous earth from time to time to keep them out, and I have had very little problem with the snails since.

Frankly, I like the old Bug-Geta snail bait better. This is the first I have tried this organic Sluggo. Generally, I try to buy organic whenever possible. And since my neighbors all have small dogs, I was interested in a product that wouldnt harm them. So that I appreciate.

But the product itself does weird things in the flower beds. At first I didnt know what it was, since when it melted it looked like white mold. The first batch I removed, then later figured out that was the melted Sluggo. It seems that I have to put it out more often, like it doesnt last as long as the bad kind of snail bait. And I am not so sure my plants like it. I have it in flower pots, and around a large potted lemon tree. One flower plant instantly croaked.

So it costs more, doesnt last as long, looks ugly and weird, doesnt make my plants happy, but its organic and wont hurt pets... so its better, right?

I knew I had snails in my backyard, but I leave early in the day and paid them little attention - until I found myself cozy with one in the blanket on my sofa, and had to clean it's trail off the armrest (we think it rode in on the dog). Since then I was aware of them, but had little time in the a.m. when they were active to worry about them. But I'm a teacher, and summer's here....

I had picked up another product, then realized it could be toxic to pets, so couldn't use it. I went online to figure out what to get and what to do in the meantime and read about Sluggo. It took me a few days to get in and exchange what I had, so meanwhile I followed the advice of many organic gardeners. I went out in the morning and hand picked the little suckers. Between Wed. a.m. and a Fri. eve. shower that brought them back out, I had hand disposed of over 200 snails - all originating from a relatively small bed planted with a long leafed ornamental plant. Ew.

I got out the next evening and generously sprinkled the Sluggo pellets throughout their home base...and have not seen one snail since (4 days). The directions say you may need to use every couple of weeks, so I'll keep an eye out, and at the first sign of another slimy creature I'll replenish my supply of this terrific product.

I used this product 4 days ago and it hasn't stopped raining since, but after two days no more slugs. I guess because of all the rain lately, we had so many they were all over our patio and crawling on our exterior walls. We couldn't even sit outside in the evenings it was so gross!
I'm thrilled with this product!!

This is the second time in 4 years that we have had a snail infestation & have used Sluggo to eradicate the problem. About 5 days after applying we went from seeing them everywhere to having a hard time finding a single live one. Love the fact that our Shih-Tzus were never in any danger if they accidently ate some & it is ultimately good for the soil. Great product!

uhh i was going crazy with these nasty ugly slugs and snails and this stuff made them all disappear.

I have used Sluggo for years and find it works very well. We have had a particularly bad infestation this summer so I have needed it more often. It was offered at a great price.
