The Monteverde pen brand is manufactured by Yafa Pens (established in 1978). It is my understanding based on what I've read at the Fountain Pen Network and elsewhere on the web, that Monteverde has modified the design of its Invincia fountain pens at least once and maybe more than once since first introducing the model. The Invincia Stealth I received is apparently the current iteration, judging by the size of the nib (what is called a number 6 size) and the fact that it posts perfectly. Earlier versions of the Invincia shipped with smaller nibs (probably number 5 size) and a number of reviewers have complained that their Invincia Stealth fountain pens either did not post or posted so loosely that the risk of the cap falling off while posted was always high. My Invincia Stealth posts reliably and in fact there is an audible soft click when it posts, which I assume is caused by an inner part of the cap going over one of the 3 ridges on the pen's end.

It came with two Monteverde brand cartridges, one black and one blue, and a standard international size converter that is unique in that it has threads on the outside where it inserts into the nib section, and of course the nib section has threads on the inside to accommodate the threaded converter. Based on everything I've read, any standard international size converter, threaded or unthreaded, will fit Monteverde fountain pens (see the cartridge/converter guide at Goulet Pens for guidelines on which fountain pens accept standard international size converters and which only accept proprietary converters). I haven't tried the cartridges as I prefer using converters in my fountain pens because it's cheaper in the long run and enables me to easily change inks.

Pen is quite heavy and writes very well. Looks sleek, very eye-catching when I pull this out to sign something. I did not care for the ink supplied and instead chose to use Noodler's with the supplied adapter. I think I have stopped my search for the perfect pen as of this purchase.

Update:

After using this pen for over a year, I've not had a single leak. I have had to occasionally clean the tip as it doesn't tolerate idleness as well as some of my other pens. Overall, I am still happy.

This is my second fountain pen, the first being a Waterman Phileas (a great "starter pen" in its own right!), and I should also note that, as a cartoonist, I use these primarily for drawing and sketching rather than writing, if that makes a difference. That said, I could not be happier with the Invincia Stealth.

Upon arrival, I immediately filled the ink converter with Noodler's "Bulletproof" Black, and noticed that the converter is threaded -- i.e., you screw it into the nib section, rather than just push it in. I don't know how common a feature this is among other pens, but I really love it as it ensures that the converter is seated securely, with no leaking.

The nib is VERY smooth, and the ink flows nicely. Noodler's bulletproof ink is known to have occasional flow/skipping issues due to its formulation, and I had to dilute it a little bit to use in my Phileas. Not so with the Stealth; it went racing out of this pen without a hitch. I should note that the nib is not technically a "flex" nib, like a Namiki Falcon's; it's certainly springy enough to impart character to lines and letters to suit my needs, but YMMV if you're looking for a truly flexible nib. Being all-metal, this is a hefty pen...again, a feature that I enjoy, but may not suit everybody's preference.

The quality of the Stealth's design and manufacture is outstanding. Its all-metal construction feels sturdy, authoritative, and speaks of longevity. The styling is contemporary, but respectful of the classic fountain pen aesthetic (no iPen, this -- I'm looking at you, Lamy), and the result is gorgeous. The cap and barrel are threaded in such a way that the pen closes with a subtle but satisfying "click". Ribs on the rear of the barrel ensure that the cap posts securely.

This is by far my favorite fountain pen. I far prefer it to more expensive pens I own. The ink never gums up, it is easily refilled, and I, at least, like the look of the all-black. This pen writes beautifully and feels good in my hand, even though I have small hands. It is more the heft of a sharpie than a ballpoint, for comparison. I find the girth and heft make the pen more comfortable, but I can see why other reviewers might dislike the size.
Unfortunately, the metal does dent. I have been careful with my pen and keep it in a case, but it once fell from my purse and there is a 2 mm dent in the body now.

i love writing with fountain pens and i have a number of them.

i was looking for a stylish, high quality all black fountain pen. i looked at the parker premier costing $375.oo and i decided to try the monteverde.

the pen is well balance and comfortable to hold. it is the smoothest pen i own, but at this price and for everyday use, it is a very good product at a very competitive price.

i think you should at least entertain it if your are looking for a quality pen
