4.0 out of 5 stars flapping Toad and the Sprocket Wet Flapping, January 18, 2001
This review is from: Montgomery Street (Audio CD)
Will Glen Phillips ever be in a band that doesn't have a nonsensical name? First Toad the Wet Sprocket and now this side project, flapping, Flapping (which, coincidentally, on it's first CD, prior to Glen lending a hand, was flapping, Flapping, FLAPPING. He evidently thought that was TOO silly!)

flapping, Flapping's second CD, Montgomery Street, is a great CD in it's own right. Glen brings a more focused songwriting sensibility to the group and it is readily apparent on the songs written by him. From the funked up "Positively Double Negative", to the Elvis Costello like "Sort This Out" to my favorite tongue-in-cheek Prince-ish/Sly Stone inspired "Eye Wannebe Likes Lie". The overall CD paints a wonderful combination of pop/funk/psychedelia that compliments anyone's music collection. Glen found a nice outlet for some of his more extreme (if you can call it that), non-Toad music.

I give it 4 stars because I realize it may not be for everybody, however, if you love Toad and you found some of their more quirky songs enjoyable, you will absolutely LOVE this CD.
