Great Shoes,

These shoes are excellent. Very comfortable. Great support. I am a size 9, the 9 fits true. Great for hiking, trail running or walking in the city on a rainy day.

Unbelievable,
I don't care if you spend $250.00 you will not find a better pair of trail shoes out there. These are lightweight, extremely comfortable, and you can run across roots, sharp rocks, or anything else all day and not feel a thing. Simply perfect!

Best Trail shoes I have ever owned,

I was custom fitted for these shoes over a year ago at a specialty running shoe store and they were the best shoes I have ever had. They lasted about 6 months of 25-30 miles a week before the interior support broke down. I looked them up on amazon and was able to purchase them for $40 less than what I had bought the original pair in September 2010. I got free shipping and it was delivered in 2-3 days. One of the best buys, I will be ordering another pair soon!

Appropropriately Named,

Masochist is a good name for these shoes. I really wanted to like them, but the pebble-sized lump in the left heel (blob of glue?) made even attempting to wear them on carpeted floors really painfull. When I pulled out the foot bed it was pretty obvious that these were not well made shoes. Returning.

Loving these Montrails! Very light and seems like
a lower heel/footbed to me in comparison to past montrails I've run in which is nice. They were obviously designed by a runner when you look at the lacing for those who have endured top of the foot pain you will understand. Not sure how many miles I'll get out of these but plan to purchase another pair soon.

This is my first pair of trail shoes but I must say that I am a seasoned runner. So I expect loads from my shoes and this pair seems to fulfill my expectations thus far. The weight is an advantage, and yet it is tough enough for the trails (Prince William Forest Park) around my residence.

Good but not much support,

I'm on my second pair of Masochists and while they are fine for everyday trail running, I was just reminded why I don't like them for ultra distance runs. If you are looking for a shoe with good support, these don't hack it for the long haul. Otherwise, they drain exceptionally well, are light (but not minimalist by any means), and the soles seem to last a while. I may seriously see about an orthotic to add a bit of support, as these are otherwise a bargin-priced winner of a shoe. But for a shoe being advertised as offering stability for overpronators...meh...not so much.

The arch of the shoe is designed too far back, hitting the inside of your heel. My son and I tried them and we both had the exact same problem. We fit perfectly on Nike 9.5M shoes. I cannot recommend these shoes. Amazon kindly accepted the return.

Never had trail running sneakers before, so I'm comparing these to general purposes sneakers. As soon as I put them on - I felt a great arch and heel support. Taking them for a 2 mile ride I felt good traction. However, when I wore these on a 5 mile hiking trip I realized that the sneakers were at least 1/2 a size small. My toes were bumping into the shoe on decent to the extent I could barely walk. I'm not sure, if this is normal that you can't walk in trail running sneakers, but when I was buying them didn't expect them to perform worse in a walking condition. I did do another 5K run on a trail and began to feel the size issue again. My conclusion - they are running 1/2 a size smaller than general purpose sneakers - so be aware of it.

I've used these shoes twice a week for a few months now and have had no problems with them what so ever.
The shoes are lightweight and feel sturdy enough to to take a nice hiking trail. They are comfortable enough that after about a two hour hiking session I can still walk in them the rest of the day. My only dislike for them was that if you take them on a muddy trail you'll have to stop to shake/dis lodge the mud from the bottom or you'll be slipping everywhere. |
