Disagree with SME Review!!,
By Mary "Mary" (Whitehall, Pa) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Montserrat (Paperback)
After reading this book and looking at the reviews listed I strongly disagree with the SME review.
First of all, it's fiction and if you read the book desription before you buy it, there is absolutely no reason to be disappointed! The author describes exactly what you can expect in this story!! I am an avid reader of fiction novels and did not take any offense to either the characters or the language. I am delighted with how very true to form and real they are.The story is one of despair at times, but also triumph. Ann is a strong and likable character who guides Bob through his demons. I have passed this book along to a friend who also liked it.

A vacation without the travel!!!,
By LB (PA.) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Montserrat (Paperback)
At times, reading this story actually made me feel like I was on vacation, without having to pack my bags and travel. The author mixes his own brand of well placed humor with the people in the story to keep your interest level up throughout the book. The book is great and really allows the reader an escape from everyday life.Fans of fiction and fun with an underside of dark drama will really enjoy this one!

Well written & very witty!,
By Kevin P. (Nashville) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Montserrat (Paperback)
I am an avid reader and selected this book by surfing the amazon book sites and reading the reviews. Lucky for me I stumbled upon this new author and decided to try his novel, Montserrat. I loved this book. Bob Fronheiser is at his wits end and in need of a new life. The tropics are on his mind and he devises a plan to escape his harrowing existence and trade it in for a real life filled with palm trees and sunshine. Happiness sometimes comes by way of a very rocky road as Bob soon finds out. the story builds to a really excellent climax. Like the other reviewers, I would really enjoy a sequel. I had alot of fun with this one!!

Movie Material!,
By Nancy Flynn (Philadelphia, PA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Montserrat (Paperback)
The best thing about Montserrat was that while the characters were outrageous, they were also believable. I particularly enjoyed it because I grew up in the Southeastern Pennsylvania area and many of the settings were familiar to me. The author brought the story to life in such a way that the entire time I was reading it, I could envision this book becoming a very successful movie.

I couldn't get past the first few pages. I hated the writing style and the foul language was just awful. Apparently you either love this book or hate it!

Loved this one!,
By Jamie (MD.) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Montserrat (Paperback)
I don't usually take the time to review books that I have read. I will make an exception this time because I really really liked this book. It was a great story with really good characters and I think I read the entire book in 3 days which is really quick for me. I especially liked the way the author blended the story of a man looking at his life and trying to make a change, while keeping it exciting with the island location. We all get to some point in life where we look at it all and want to make things simpler. Poor Bob did not know what he was in for.
the ending was well done and I was satified with imagining what could happen next. I liked the writing style and will look forward to more from this author. |
