Editorial Reviews

From Library Journal

Starting with The Complete and Utter History of Britain (1969) and ending with The Film Life of George (1989), which chronicles longtime Python fan/collaborator George Harrison's Handmade Films production company, this book lists everything the troupe was involved in both collectively and individually, plus articles, reviews, talk show appearances, and more, in a 20-year period. The cut-off dates--starting with the year the first episode of Monty Python's Flying Circus aired, and ending in the 20th anniversary year--are very arbitrary, and the work might have been enhanced by inclusion of more pre-Python material that the sextet worked on and some 1990 material. The book is a delight to flip through and fun to read. The illustrations are disappointingly few, most taken from Monty Python's The Meaning of Life (1983). The book is dedicated to the memory of Graham Chapman, who died on the eve of the 20th anniversary. Essential for television, film, and pop culture collections; public libraries will probably find this popular too.
