5.0 out of 5 stars SMELLS LIKE A DEAD SHEEP! NO, NO ... A BIG DUNG. THAT'S IT!
While driving home from work do you find yourself entertaining ways to introduce your employer to the mysteries of modern computer viruses? Do you daydream about blackmailing him (or her) with photographs of him (or her) in compromising positions with naked farm animals? 3.0 out of 5 stars Edited badly!
Beware - some of the selections have been trimmed to get rid of what the obviously clueless editor thought was "dead space". I noticed it specifically in the sketch where Brian is brought before Pilate for the first time. While driving home from work do you find yourself entertaining ways to introduce your employer to the mysteries of modern computer viruses? Do you daydream about blackmailing him (or her) with photographs of him (or her) in compromising positions with naked farm animals? Does your family vacation drag on endlessly with conversations about what the weather will be like in South Hampton? Well look no further! To avoid being caught in the near future with a cleaver in your hand and your clothes soiled with several varieties of DNA evidence call up now and buy this CD! Just pop it in your automobile or home entertainment center and keep yourself and others distracted from murderous thoughts and tenancies. You may however still wish to kill someone, especially after the last track, but at least it won't be anyone important just the guy who wrote the song that keeps playing over and over and over and over again in your brain! By Olympic Standards a perfect ten!

4.0 out of 5 stars Mothers don't grasp Monty Python, so it must be right, May 3, 2009
This review is from: Monty Python's Life Of Brian (1979 Film) (Audio CD)
Yep, something about the psychological make up of mothers seems to preclude them from 'getting' Monty Python. At least my mother nor the mothers of any of my mates seemed to quite understand what we all thought was so hilarious about the Python lads and their material.

Oh well, their loss! This is another excellent album of comedy material, here lifted from one the groups feature film masterpieces, Life of Brian. Now to be fair I have to warn you that some of the stuff has been edited and obviously not the whole film is here, but what should be noted in counterweight to that is how funny in simple audio many of the films more visial sequences are which pretty much points to the talent of the group at this time.

In short, this is a nicely recorded and very very funny audio look at most of the salient points of the brilliant film and while you may think that you'd just be better off putting on the DVD there are times you quite simply can't. That's when this album comes into it's own. I've had this in my collection since it came out on cassette tape in the 80's and now own it on CD and it never fails to bring a smile to my face.

4.0 out of 5 stars If you're a fan of the movie only, February 2, 2011
This review is from: Monty Python's Life Of Brian (1979 Film) (Audio CD)
Most of the tracks are actual clips from the movie, containing only 5 or so actual songs. Its worth it for idle's hit always look on the bright side of life, which is the 3 minute song he sings at the end of the movie. If you are just looking for Bright Side of Life, you probably can find it in another Monty Python compilation with songs from others Monty Python movies, but if you are a fan of Life of Brian you get some audio quotes and a few other songs from the movie.

Beware - some of the selections have been trimmed to get rid of what the obviously clueless editor thought was "dead space". I noticed it specifically in the sketch where Brian is brought before Pilate for the first time. Much of the humor of the "Biggus Dickus" sketch depends on pregnant pauses, which have been obliterated in this version, as has, consequently, the masterful humor and tension of the scene. Bad editor! What's the point of releasing a comedy soundtrack if the comedy is destroyed? It would be better for those interested in the soundtrack to simply record the dialogue directly from the movie for themselves.

It brings to mind the old joke...
"Ask me what the most important thing about comedy is."
"What's the most important thing a-"
"Timing."

5.0 out of 5 stars Exactly what you should expect, January 9, 2007

If you're looking at this album, and this review, chances are you know what Monty Python is, and what they're all about. In fact, chances are you've seen the movie as well.

The "soundtrack" of course doesn't actually have that much music on it. It's more like a condensed audio version of the movie, with most (not all) of the funniest bits from the movie captured on CD.

It's a great addition to any fan's MP collection, I have it on my iPod along with all of my other favorites of theirs from Holy Grail and from Flying Circus.

5.0 out of 5 stars Get this now!!!, March 9, 2006
This review is from: Monty Python's Life Of Brian (1979 Film) (Audio CD)
If you were disappointed in how the CD for "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" turned out, you will be very pleased with this CD. All the good bits are here (including the Latin grammar lesson, "What have the Romans ever done for us?", and Pilate's wonderful speeches), and the linking bits are funny ("Brian is on the run from the lobster . . .") and hold up well under repeated listenings. No Python fan will want to be without this CD!

5.0 out of 5 stars "He's not the Messiah... he's a very naughty boy!!", August 13, 2003

This review is from: Monty Python's Life Of Brian (1979 Film) (Audio CD)
This is every Python fanatic's dream come true. I was so happy to find the "Monty Python's Life of Brian" soundtrack. Being a big Monty Python fan, I knew I had to have it. And, it's from my favorite Python film.

I always hesitated to buy this at first because I thought it would only be the music from the movie (and I remembered there wasn't a lot, so I was always wondering how in the world could they make a CD out of it?). Well, not only are the songs included, but most of the SEGMENTS from the movie are included. That's right, now you can hear your favorite parts of the film on CD! And most of them are here, too. So it's something you will want to listen to over and over again.

The bits never get old or unfunny. That's the magic the Monty Python. No matter how much you see them or hear them, they are ALWAYS funny. My favorite tracks on the album are "the wise men at the manger," "stoning," "what have the Romans ever done for us," "he's a very naughty boy," "Ben..." ah, forget it! They're all great to listen to. There's even exclusive narration from the boys made specifically for the soundtrack on some of the tracks.

Are you a Python fan? Do you love "Life of Brian?" Then what are you waiting for? Pick up this soundtrack as soon as you can. You will not regret it. Laugh along with your favorite segments from the film and relive the movie again and again. Now you don't need a TV to enjoy the film. A very excellent purchase, and I couldn't be happier.

This review is from: Monty Python's Life Of Brian (1979 Film) (Audio CD)
I have been a fan of Monty Python for many years. This CD allows you to take the Python humor with you wherever you go. This CD was so good that I proceeded to purchase the CD for "Holy Grail!"

Buy it...You will not be disappointed.
