Editorial Reviews

About the Author

Award-winning writer Nicky Leach first got to know the Navajo in 1992, when she moved to Flagstaff, Arizona, to write and edit books on the Southwest and its cultures. "Flagstaff is blessed with many Navajo residents," she says, "and its proximity to the Big Rez means there are always Navajo families visiting relatives, shopping, and taking part in the life of town." Having grown up in Britain, Nicky particularly appreciates dry Navajo humor, evident in everything from wry joke about "biligaanas", or outsiders, like herself to folk art poking fun at Navajo subculture. "On the reservation, its best not to take yourself too seriously," she laughs. "Relax and just enjoy yourself."

Amazon,
The book was colorful and informative. BUT, it did not have enough detailed information (maps, etc) on the Monument Valley area itself.

Big book (10"x13"), Big disappointmet. I was looking for a book to tell me the best sites to see and the best way to visit Monument Valley. The book gives you this information in about two pages. The rest of the book gives you the history and geological background of the area. The book gives you information on other sites which include Antelope Canyon, Rainbow Bridge, Canyo De Chelly and several other sites. I did not find this book vey interesting. However, there were a few good pictures.
