5.0 out of 5 stars My Favorite Boynton book yet!!!
I'm very surprised by all the problems other reviewers have had with this book as I have been nothing but satisfied! My son is rough on his books, our "moo-er" still works fine. This is one of our favorite books to read and I love the interaction it encourages. The "lick" page is terry cloth to mimick a tongue and it says "When I lick you right now..." and I always "lick"...

3.0 out of 5 stars Cute, but poor quality
The book appears to be well made, but after just a few weeks the seams are coming unraveled and it no longer makes the "moo" sound. The book is very cute and offers a variety of soft textures, but does not hold up very well.

1.0 out of 5 stars Moo cow book, May 16, 2005

I purchased this book for my daughter. It has a button that you push to get it to moo. The first book I got did not work upon opening the product. I returned it, and received a second book. It worked for one day, and it too would not moo. The book is cute, and if it doesn't matter to you if it moos or not, then it's a good purchase. Otherwise, steer clear of this product.

2.0 out of 5 stars Broken Mooer, June 27, 2005
This review is from: Moo Cow Book (Misc. Supplies)
I must echo the review of RJ Moya. We have gone through THREE of these books already. My daughter loved this book as an infant, and it taught her that cows go MOO--one of her first vocalizations (with identifiable purpose), but the mooer broke within weeks. My daughter cried rivers when we pressed the button and no moo sound came out. We took responsibility though because we really did use it a lot. The second book's mooer, however, died within two days. My daughter was once again heartbroken, so we returned the book and tried it for a third time. This one held in there for a little while, but the mooer died two days ago, and I'm OUT! At 17 months, it's no longer her favorite book, and she doesn't seem to miss it at all. I only gave it two stars because she did love it while it lasted. Quite frankly, I'd stay away from it altogether!

The "lick" page is terry cloth to mimick a tongue and it says "When I lick you right now..." and I always "lick" him with the cow tongue. I love this book so much that sometimes I chase him down just to read it to him! I can't say enough good things about this book and I'm sorry to hear others got defective ones as it really is a sweet book and it's a classic Boynton!

2.0 out of 5 stars Book is defective, December 18, 2004
This review is from: Moo Cow Book (Misc. Supplies)
This would be a great baby book, but mine arrived with the printing on the cloth pages in the wrong order! It should say "I'm your very own COW, and I like to go MOO!" Mine says, "I'm your very own COW, So true I do!" This ruined my gift for my nephew. Has anyone else checked their words to make sure they're right? I'd imagine they printed a whole bunch like this. I'm very disappointed!

4.0 out of 5 stars Not much content, no pictures, but still fun, February 4, 2007
This review is from: Moo Cow Book (Misc. Supplies)
What do you get when you combine a puppet with some words? The Moo Cow Book.

The cover is a super soft cow's head that a baby/toddler will find hard to resist. When you open up the book, you enter the cow's mouth. On the first and last pages you will see the teeth and in the middle is a pink terrycloth tongue.

There is also a spot to push that moos. Other reviewers have had trouble with the mooer breaking, but our mooer is still working after 16 months of use.

Our toddler loves this book because it is like a puppet with a predictable script. He anxiously anticipates the cow's moo and lick.

However, this is not a typical Boyton book. If you love her illustrations, you may be disappointed because you won't find anything but the cow on the cover. And while the concept is a neat idea and opening up to the cow's mouth is fun, the pages are white with black text. Even the text is extremely simplistic: "I'm Your Very Own Cow and I like to go Moo! When I lick you right now, lick, lick, it means, 'I adore you!' So true! I do!" That's the entire book.

Fun book that babies and toddlers are sure to enjoy, but understand this is more of a toy/puppet than a book.

My 16-month old loves Moo Cow. It's cute, sweet, and quite cuddly. My son learned to push the moo button inside and he's very proud of that accomplishment. As an added bonus, after fighting every evening to get my son's teeth brushed, one day he picked up a toothbrush and "brushed" the cow's teeth inside the "cover" of this book. That led him to letting me brush HIS teeth and then he brushed his own. That alone was worth the price of the book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Baby Book!, April 18, 2011
This review is from: Moo Cow Book (Misc. Supplies)
You can't go wrong with this one. My daughter fell in love with it immediately and she was only 4 months old at the time. It remains a favorite even today. And as the adult it will just plain make you smile when you read it to your child.
